John: Mormon.

Hi, I'm John

I love theatre, I love to act, I love photography, I love music and cinema, I love to help people, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am the middle child of a family of five raised by a single parent in California. I like to do a lot of things the majority of are theatre oreinted. I love singing, acting, and dancing as well as making movies with my family. In fact I even video-taped one of my cousins weddings using a digital camera.

Why I am a Mormon

Why? Not because I am suppossed to be but because I want to be. I was raised in the church and was baptized when I was 8. I didn't really have a full assurance that the gospel was true. I knew when I was 8 because my mother and father had always told me. Since I knew my father and mother loved me I knew they would never lie to me. But as I grew up I myself began to question the church. Eventually I came to the conclusion that I must gain my own testimony. So I experimented with Moroni's promise and I felt the Holy Ghost testify to me the truthfulness of the Book of Mormon.

Personal Stories

How has the Book of Mormon brought you closer to God?

I was raised in the church so as a child I would always read it for fun. As I got older I began to take it more seriously especially whe I was 14, which was when I made the descion to serve a mission. I read the Book of Mormon and I knew that my parent's knew it was true, and I knew that they would never lie to me there son because they love me. So I decided to read it and ponder it for myself, I needed to know if it was true. So I read it from start to finish and then prayed. This immense feeling came over me like the feeling one has when they are cold and warm up next to a fire. This was the Holy Ghost manifesting the truth of the Book of Mormon to me. I knew it and I knew that my father in heaven knew it and I wanted to share it with the whole world.

Please explain the part prayer plays in your life?

Praying is one of the many things I never forget to do. My mother always taught me to pray, everyday, and not only just at meals. There have been times in my life where I did not know what to do and then the though comes to me "Did you think to pray?" So I get down on my knees and offer a prayer and then an immense feeling of comfort comes over me, and I could go through the day knowing what to do and that the Holy Ghost was there and he would guide me. God is waiting for anyone who needs help, comfort, or a sense of direction to pray, and ask. If you pray, he will answer you, I know he will.

How I live my faith

If anyone has a question about my faith I am ready to answer. Another way I do is by going about helping people. The best way you can feel the saviour's love is through service. Infact it is very fun whether it is helping someone move to another house or laying down sod for a neighbor's lawn. It makes me happy whenever I do service because it reminds me of Jesus Christ's great act of service : the Atonement. He died for me so that through my obedience I could return, how can I not serve my fellow man just like he did?
