Hi, I'm Lee
I am retired, author, a heart transplant recipient, serving a senior mission, 2nd marriage, dad and new-dad .
About Me
I have experienced both a Spiritual and a Physical Mighty Change of Heart. I have written a book about my decision to have a heart transplant. I was born and raised in the church, a seminary graduate, served a mission to Southern California when I was 19-21 years old. I had to find out for myself if what I was teaching was really true before I could try to teach others about our Savior Jesus Christ and the blessing of the atonement. My search was to find out who had the authority from God to preach, teach and baptize.
Why I am a Mormon
I have been happily married for 45 years, 40 to my first wife and 5 to my present wife. First wife died of cervical cancer, but we had 3 children and 10 grandchildren. Married second spouse 5 years ago, became new-daddy to 7 children and 17 more grandchildren, bring ‘em on. Received a transplanted heart 9 years ago and now appreciate every minute of life as a gift from heaven. Participate in Transplant Olympics games. Later in life after retirement, I have worked as a temple worker and have had many sacred experiences while working there. Currently, I am serving an 18 month Senior Couple mission in eastern Georgia. How I love the freedoms we have in this wonderful country. God Bless our country and our freedom of worship! This gives me pupose for doing all of these things, because with the plan of happiness it does have meaning.
Personal Stories
How has the Holy Ghost helped you?
The Holy Ghost comforted me when I thought that all was lost and gave me the courage to keep on going while waiting for my borrowed heart to come available and gave me the courage to know it was okay for me to be granted a second chance at life. The Holy Ghost confirmed to me that the Church of Jesus Christ of latter-day Saints was the answer to my prayers about who has the authority to preach, teach and to Baptize and you can find that same comforting feeling in your life.
How has attending Church services helped you?
Just knowing our Savior loves us and hearing about Him each week gives us the courage to continue to try to live a good life and our faith sustains that feeling throuthout the week .
How has The Book of Mormon helped you understand the purpose of life?
It is a second witness to me along with the Bible to confirm to me that God loves all of us as His children no matter where we live and it transends all races. He has made his gospel available to all and Jesus has made ressurection and the atonement available to everyone, everywhere.
How has your knowledge of the Plan of Happiness changed/benefited your life?
Sometime after this life I will meet my donor and be able to thank her personally for this Gift of Life she gave to me. It gives me the answers to the purpose for this life and what it all means and that is very comforting to me. I can now be happy to follow God's word.
In what ways have your prayers been answered?
My prayers were answered as to receiving a second chance at life and if you need answers to your question you too can prayer ernestly to God for answers and I testify the answers will come if you truly ask in faith! I have now dedicated my life to helping others and it feels great and fulfilling.
How I live my faith
I live my faith by being an example of continuing to serve even after retirement, many health problems, because the best example is a life well lived. It is better to wear out than to rust out.
