Alex: Golf, Love, Fun, Water, Sports, Family, Mormon.

Hi, I'm Alex

I am an avid golfer, I love water skiing, my family is one of the most important things to me, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I enjoy... well enjoy is an understatement, I love golf. One cool fact about me is that my grandmother, my father, and myself have all gotten a hole in one. Water skiing is one of my passions, although I am not the best. I love playing in the snow out in -40 degree weather. I am a missionary for The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Day Saints. I am 21 years old and I love life. I enjoy long walks on the beach and ... just kidding. Humor is a large part about who I am, without it I could not be me. I love bringing smiles to people's faces. I can do a rubiks cube in one minute flat. My family is so important to me I love them so much. I am a standing witness that Jesus Christ Lives.

Why I am a Mormon

As I have had the opportunity to grow up in this church from my birth. I have been able to experience the feelings of peace, joy, serenity, and love my entire life. Yes there are times where I struggle. There are many times that I may not always do what is right, but I have never and I will never feel any doubt towards the divinity and truthfulness of this gospel. In September of 2010 I had the opportunity to go to the very grove of trees that Joseph Smith Saw the Father and His Beloved Son. After I had finished praying unto my Heavenly Father and His Son I sat down on the nearest bench. I was sitting in the very forest where the Father and the Son had appeared to Joseph Smith. While I was sitting, I wondered why I had not had any profound experience? About as soon as this thought came into my head in raced another. The reason I had not felt any difference is because I have always had such good feelings, such feelings of reverence, peace, and joy. I was just feeling as I always do and that is what bore witness to my very soul that this church is true. This is the only church that has been restored in the exact likeness of the one in Jesus Christ's time on this earth.

I am a Mormon because I love feeling happy. Joy is an emotion that I have sought after and will continue to seek after my entire life. I do not understand why people would ever not want to constantly have feelings of peace, joy, and love around them. The reason that I love this church so much is that you can feel pure. You can realize that you are a son/daughter of God and he loves you. When you truly understand what the atonement is and what it does for you, feelings of the utmost reverence can enter into your heart. I promise to every person that may ever stumble upon these words that if you pray to the Father and the Son with a sincere heart, and real intent the Holy Ghost will manifest the truth unto you and you may know that you can feel at peace. You can be happy. There is no reason any past transgression or sin that you may have that cannot be cleansed through the great reviving power of the Atonement.

Personal Stories

What blessings have come through your faith in Jesus Christ?

Through my faith in Jesus Christ I have been able to fully understand that my Family and Myself are forever. I have come to a knowledge that I am Heavenly Fathers son. I have also been able to become a better person, through trying my hardest everyday to live the principles and doctrines of this church. My love for my family has increased so much they are so important to me. There is a poem that Elder Ballard of the quorum of the twelve apostles shared.CES Fireside for Young Adults • November 7, 2010 • Brigham Young University.
It is entitled “The Oak Tree” by Johnny Ray Ryder Jr.

A mighty wind blew night and day.
It stole the oak tree’s leaves away,
Then snapped its boughs and pulled its bark
Until the oak was tired and stark.
But still the oak tree held its ground
While other trees fell all around.
The weary wind gave up and spoke,
“How can you still be standing, Oak?”
The oak tree said, “I know that you
Can break each branch of mine in two,
Carry every leaf away,
Shake my limbs, and make me sway.
But I have roots stretched in the earth,
Growing stronger since my birth.
You’ll never touch them, for you see,
They are the deepest part of me.
Until today, I wasn’t sure
Of just how much I could endure.
But now I’ve found, with thanks to you,
I’m stronger than I ever knew.

Just like this mighty oak tree that is mentioned above my roots have been growing since my birth. My faith has been growing since my birth and will continue to do so.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by trying to accomplish whatsoever thing Jesus the Christ asks of me. Some of the things that the Lord has entrusted me with is being someone that will bring his sheep back to him. I am currently serving in a two year calling as a missionary for The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Days Saints in the New York Rochester Mission. Before I was serving these two years I taught a wonderful group of 8-10 year olds how they can feel and recognize the Power of the Holy Ghost. The Lord was able to teach through me and help them understand how the Holy Ghost can guide them, and if they follow the Holy Ghost how they can feel its presence constantly. Growing up I was able to participate in various youth groups that taught us how to be good honorable people. One of the main ways that I and other Mormons do to live our faith is striving to follow the commandments. Good feelings only come from God. When we do what is right and seek out the truth we can feel what is and is not from God.
