Susi.: Mormon.

Hi, I'm Susi.

I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I've lived in Arizona my whole life and can not think of a better place to live. Yes our summers are scorching, but our winters are Heavenly. I didn't grow up as a Mormon, but through childhood and high school friends I became slightly aware of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and years later, when I was in college, I really became interested in learning about why all the Mormon friends I knew seemed to be so happy and have such close and loving families. I was baptized into the church when I was 18 years old as I was attending my first year of college. Since then I have met a spectacular man, gotten married, had two hildren, moved into our first house and finsihed my bachelor's degree in management. To say the least, if you told me eight years ago, this would be my life, I would have laughed in your face. But to be perfectly honest, sometimes I am in absolute awe of how happy I am.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I learned about the principles that the church teaches and it made perfect sense. It was familiar to me, like I already knew it, and I was just waiting to hear it again. I also remember the very first time I met with missionaries. One of the missionaries was explaining to me prophets were once on the earth when Jesus was alive and they helped to get God's message to the people. Then the missionary explained how God was the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. Why would He suddenly not put someone here on the earth to help guide His children that He loved? It just clicked and I realized there are people here on this earth, as hard as it is to imagine that are special messengers from God, here to help us to be happy and make good decisions that can lead us to happiness. No, that doesn't mean my life is perfect and nothing ever goes wrong, or I don't ever have hardships, but I do know that I if I am following the correct principles, I am well on my way in the great Plan of Happiness, which is what is so spectacular to me. To know that my Heavenly Father has created a plan, a very simple plan indeed, and has given us very simple guidelines to achieve eternal happiness is a comfort to me.

Personal Stories

Please explain the part prayer plays in your life?

When the missionaries first asked me to say a prayer before one of our discussions, I looked at them in shock. I didn't know how to talk to God. I didn't feel worthy to even try to talk to Him. They taught me how to talk to him and little by little I became more comfortable with the idea of it. Still to this day, it's a daunting task to pray to Him, because I feel so insignificant compared to all the other things I'm sure He has to deal with, but it is a miracle to me that we can speak to our Heavenly Father and He can hear us, He cares enough and He will answer us.

How I live my faith

I wake up every morning and try to remember who I am. I am a daughter a God, and a representative of what I believe to be the true Gospel of Jesus Christ. I want my daughters to know who they are and how much they are loved by a Heavenly Father who knows them very well. I see my knowledge of the gospel as a huge privilege. I am so glad I came to know it and I hope that others may come to know it by asking questions.
