About Me

Right now i am serving a full time mision in Mexico. Befor the mission i worked in a ER taking care of the sick and the injured. I love going out camping spending time with my family. I like the extream sport of scuba diving. My most favorite place to visit is the Grand Canyon enjoying the peace that is found in watching the sun gown in the evnings in the canyon.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon for many reasons to find just one reason would be very difficult. I have had some very beautiful experience that have grown my testimony in the truthfulness of the Gospel that is found being a member. When i was in High School i had many fun experiences but one of the most rewarding and memorable experience that i had was when i obeyed the counsel of Gorden B. Hinckley to read the Book of Mormon. At first i was not to excited to do it so i feel behind for several months in the reading assignment but one day i felt a strong desire to to JUST DO IT. In this time i had a Pocket PC and i was taking seminary. When i finally made the decision to read the Book of Mormon i downloaded it from the Church web site a put it on my Pocket PC and read almost in every class that i had the Book of Mormon. When the time that seminary came i would also open up the Book and read. Be for i noticed i was half way through the Book and i was enjoying the sweet spirit of the words that are found in the Book of Mormon. As i continued reading i noticed that i was developing a strong testimony that the Book was a book from God and that it really was a guide for my life. The Book of Mormon saved my life. It made me see and know the truth. From that moment i have read the Book of Mormon 6 times and i continue feeling the spirit of God while i read it. So i guess those that read this could say that i am a Mormon because i know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and that it saved me from the many temptation that we find in the world.
Christ does live! He loves us and i love him. He is my Savior! and i found that out through reading the Book of Mormon and you can also!!!

How I live my faith

Right now i am living my faith through serving a full time mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. I teach people how to follow Christ and how to receive forgiveness from their sins. Before the mission i lived my faith through giving service to those that were around me. I have planted gardens and helped people change houses. I taught the Young Adults class in church and learned to love everyone. As for now i live my faith by obeying the teaching of a living Prophet and by teaching other in what i believe and how to live in what i believe.

What is faith?

One thing that i have learned is really what is faith. Many people believe that faith is only to believe in something or someone. Which really is not the case. When some one has faith in Christ they believe that he exists and that he is their Savior and they obey the commandments that he has given them. Faith has action and with out action faith is dead having no value. When some one has faith in God and his Son they work to show the faith that they have. A man shows that they have faith through their works. And God measures our faith through our works.To show that we have faith in Christ was must do what he teaches. We must be obedient to his example that he has given us through mortal ministry.

Faith is a huge topic, rarely fully understood even by people who talk about it a lot. In the Mormon conception, it's a step of confidence between mere belief and full knowledge. It's perhaps best described by contrast with these two extremes on the continuum on which they all lie. First, faith is not that passive thing we call belief because it's a principle of action. So for someone to have faith, they have to be motivated to put a belief into practice, not merely be content with keeping it in their mind. For example, we believe that Christ is the Savior, but because we have faith we ACT as if this were true, and follow His example as best we can. In fact, "acting as if..." is a fairly good phrase to define faith. On the other hand, faith is not "perfect knowledge" either. There is enough of an element of uncertainty about the thing we have faith in, that it takes an effort of conscious decision-making to test our faith's hypothesis. If we had a full knowledge of a thing, that whole test, and the faith to find out if it's true, wouldn't be necessary. Atheists will argue that faith is mere belief (and baseless, at that), but what I have described for faith here leads to a more "scientific" approach that Atheists would like to admit is operable in the minds of the faithful. The proper response to a scriptural assertion, then, becomes not blind obedience, but rather careful thought, hypothesis forming, and testing. As tests come back proven or unproven, faith will grow in the right direction until it approaches "perfect knowledge".

What is the Book of Mormon?

It is my conviction that if one simply examines the patterns and information given about holy writ in general that they ought to be inclined to ask and pray about whether or not the Book of Mormon is inspired. I say this because the Book of Mormon is not just a book of prayers or ethical teachings. The Book of Mormon is a historical record that has a deep and powerful impact on millions of people every single day. Religion aside, a book as influential and striking as the Book of Mormon is worth the investigation of anyone genuinely seeking truth. There are very few books that have entire study manuals, curriculum, books, thesis papers, scientific research, grammatical and literary research, live performances, and general discussion entirely about its content. The Bible might be the only other thing with as much extensive literature and documentation pertaining to its writings and doctrines. The Book of Mormon is at the very least intriguing when supplemented with archeological finds, external historical information, unique writing patters such as chiasmus, and overall literary competency and beauty found within the writing. From a non-religious stand point it is impressive, but from a religious perspective it is life changing. To have a testimony of a thing is powerful, but to hinge an entire belief system on 530 pages is another thing. To be so emotionally and spiritually connected to a thing is powerful, but when that thing is a book - that book must be something more than just written words. That book must be something inspired by God, preserved by His hand, and prepared by His grace. I believe that the Bible is one of those books. I also believe that the Book or Mormon is one of those books. There is no proving the Book of Mormon just like there is no proving the Bible. We believe that the teachings and doctrines found in the pages of the old and new testament are real and trustworthy. We cannot explain how, except perhaps the mercies and merit of God, the Bible was preserved for our days. But though we cannot explain it, we simply know it. If you ask any latter-day saint to prove the Book of Mormon to be true, they will simply reply that they cannot prove it, but they know it to be true. One should not demand evidence for the bible, they should read it study it and pray to know if it is true. It is the same for the Book of Mormon. Now the interesting thing about the Book of Mormon is that it something that you can feel, see, test, and try. It is real and tangible. I am confident that if anyone who is level headed and reasonable reads what is in the Book of Mormon and then simply asks if it is true that they will have a profound feeling come over them. But this feeling cannot come if there is an ulterior agenda for the reader. If you don't want it to be true or want to find flaws and errors in the text then you certainly will not obtain this profound feeling. You have to grant the fact that all things are indeed possible with God, and that he certainly could provide something more to draw us even closer to his will. Think of the Book of Mormon like the New Testament to the Jews. During the time of Paul and Peter, the Jews were very set in their ways. They had the Old Testament, and that was all that they felt that they needed for salvation. There was no mention of 12 apostles or a New Testament in the Old Testament; it was doctrines that were added upon to bring Gods children even closer to him. To say that the Bible is all that is needed is to say exactly what the Jews said about the teachings of Paul and the apostles. Must we be so quick to limit Gods ability to speak to us? Is it not a blessing to have more of his written word? I can understand a skeptic of The Book of Mormon. Many and man has tried to con the world into believing his new religion. But that is simply not the case with Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon. I challenge anyone to read unbiased biographies about Joseph Smith and his character. Read the entries of the people who knew him and what they thought about his life and motives. What you will find is not a usurper or power, nor a charlatan, but rather an amazing individual whose life was taken in the pursuit of preaching revealed doctrines. The Book of Mormon is something that people have sacrificed their entire lives for. Its teachings have a daily effect of millions of people worldwide. Its doctrines bring peace and Joy to the hearts of the humble and faithful. The Book of Mormon is the Word of God. I have to doubt of that.
