Why I am a Mormon

Because I know without a shadow of a doubt that this is the only true church on the face of this planet. I know that Joseph Smith is the prophet that restored this church. I know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God. I can honestly tell you that being a member of this church has truly changed my life because it does nothing but bear good fruit to me. As stated in Matthew chapter 7 vs 20. It brings joy and happiness to my life. Why not be a part of something that will bring you long lasting joy? It has helped keep my family protected from the bad things in the world. The teachings of this church has provided me with strength to overcome any trials that I may face.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by striving my best every day to thank Heavenly Father what He has given me. I live my faith by doing my best to increase my testimony on a daily basis and sharing it with others. Heavenly Father has blessed me with a strong testimony of our Saviour Jesus Christs infinite atoning sacrifice. Faith is an action word, so I live my faith by repenting of my sins and living worthily to live in Gods presense once again.

What is the Word of Wisdom that Mormons talk about?

The Word of Wisdom is a way of life that we as members live. It is God's health code for his children to keep our bodies and our minds healthy and strong. It was a revelation that was given to Joseph Smith. This revelation is basically the food pyramid that we have nowadays. What you should eat fruits, veggies, meat, grains etc. And what you shouldn't partake of tobacco, alcohol, coffee, tea and illegal durgs. It is amazing how this was given to Joseph Smith in 1833. Simply amazing.

The word of wisdom is the Lord's law of health. We abstain from drugs, tobacco, alcohol, coffee, and tea, and are encouraged to eat wholesome food and grains, and not eat excessive meat. I am asked all of the time by my fellow residents at the hospital why I don't drink coffee, and how I can stay awake all night on call without it. I don't consider it a sacrifice, though, and am as awake and perform as well as any. It is true that the body will be more healthy when following the word of wisdom, the but the main benefit is spiritual. The knowledge that you are in line with the the Lord's teaching is the most important thing.

What is the Church’s position on abortion?

The Church recognizes some circumstances that may justify an abortion, such as when pregnancy is the result of incest or rape, when the life or health of the mother is in serious jeopardy, or when the fetus is known to have severe defects that will not allow the baby to survive beyond birth.

Human life is a sacred gift from God. Elective abortion for personal or social convenience is contrary to the will and the commandments of God.
