Chat With a Mormon Online
I am a stay-at-home mom to my 1-year-old daughter. Before she joined our family, I taught fifth grade after graduating from college with a degree in elementary education. In my spare time, I like to read children and young adult fiction and do genealogy.
I was born to parents who were actively involved in the Mormon religion, so from my childhood, I have been a Mormon. Now that I have a family of my own, I continue in the faith because I know this is Jesus Christ's church. I find perspective and peace from the knowledge this gospel gives me about the purpose of my life. I find happiness from living the way the church teaches me to live.
The Book of Mormon gives an account of real people who lived long ago, just like the Bible. Reading the experiences of these people and how God helped them gives me hope that God will help me as well. One example in the Book of Mormon is of some believers who were waiting for Jesus to appear in the Americas as it had been prophesied to them that He would (see 3 Nephi, chapter 1). Some others were telling the believers that they had believed in vain and that it would never take place. However, the believers did not give up hope--they waited for the prophecy to be fulfilled, and it did. Their belief was not in vain. This account gives me comfort that sometimes I may need to wait for God's promises to be fulfilled in my life, but I can follow these believers' examples and be patient and keep hope. God will be there for me.
I read the scriptures (Bible and/or Book of Mormon) every day to become closer to God and to better understand His will for my life. I pray every day to express gratitude for my blessings and to ask for the guidance or help I need in my life. I try to follow Jesus Christ's example in how I treat others.
