I am a wife and a mother of three beautiful boys. I love my family. They are everything to me.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was 11 years old the missionaries came to my home. They told me about Jesus Christ and His church. They told me about the plan of happiness and about prophets. It all made sense. I never wanted the missionaries to leave. I realize now that I felt the spirit.

And I still feel that spirit. When I am at church, when I read the Scriptures, including the Book of Mormon. I feel it when I am teaching my sons about our Savior.

I love how the LDS church encourages people to pray and find out for themselves if their teachings are true. I read the Book of Mormon and listened to the missionaries. And I prayed to my Heavenly Father to know if it was true. I know He hears and answers prayers. I promise that if you sincerly desire to know if what the missionaries teach is true, the Lord will send his Spirit. You will feel peace and warmth. I did. And it changed my whole life.

Personal Stories

What has helped develop greater harmony in your home?

Reading the Book of Mormon with my children each night has given me a chance to bear testimony to my children. Sometimes it can be challenging when children are young, and some nights I wonder if they got anything out of it. But I know having the scriptures consistly in our lives has encouraged sweet, tender moments. I can teach and bear witness of truths. And I know they are learning about our Savior and their testimony is growing.

How I live my faith

I love going to church with my family. I know it strengthens our family. I love seeing their faith grow as they learn about the gospel and apply it to their lives.

I also have the oppurtunity to serve with the youth in our area. I love them so much. They are amazing young women and I feel honored in helping them in this crucial time in their lives. We have fun and are edified. And I can testify and share with them my testimony of our Saviour Jesus Christ and how we can live to have His spirit with us.

Why is family so important to Mormons?

I know that God is also my Father in Heaven. I am his daughter and he loves me. Being a mother gives me a tiny glipse of how Heavenly Father feels about me. I know families can last forever, so I am doing everything I can to strengthen and help my family draw closer to the Lord.

After I joined the Mormon Church I learned about the importance of families. Not long after that I realized that if I was going to follow this teaching I needed to tell my father that I loved him. That was very difficult for me since my dad and I argued so much. I spent the better part of 2 weeks trying to determine how I could do this. When the time came I found that the words came more easily than I had thought. From that point to the time he died, about 22 years later, he and I had an entirely different relationship. We were now friends. And I found how much I regretted all our arguments while growing up. And now I find that I miss him and more fully understand how important our families are.

Do Mormons practice polygamy?

No, we don't. People typically mix up Mormons with their reformed break offs. Several of those groups practice polygamy, even though historically the commandment from the Lord to have plural marriages has been repealed.
