Hi, I'm Lynn
I'm a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, teacher, coach and I'm a Mormon.
About Me
I love to be creative so I constantly have one project or another going at all times. I love to teach so I try and find ways to teach and share all my talents with as many people as I can. I've taught cooking and craft classes, I've written a cookbook, I have a blog about my job as a health coach, I'm an avid Boy Scouter and I'm a licensed contractor! In my spare time I'm a mother of 5 incredible children and the grandmother of 9+ of the most amazing grandchildren!
Why I am a Mormon
I've always known I was a child of God. I've never had a shadow of a doubt about that. Although raised in a Mormon family I didn't just depend on the teachings of my parents or teachers to know that. I knew that I needed to know those things for myself, so I searched and prayed for an answer. I asked myself, "If you weren't a Mormon, what would you be?". The answer I received was that I knew I was a Child of God. I knew the gospel of Jesus Christ had been restored to the earth through a Prophet I knew that a living Prophet was on the earth and that I knew the teachings of the Gospel of Jesus Christ were only to be found in the Mormon church. All my questions were answered and I never again found the need to question or doubt.
Personal Stories
In what ways have your prayers been answered?
I was having a really bad time one day. Working full time while raising a family of 5 children was stressful, too many children's activities, church and community commitments had completely overwhelmed me. I could no longer do it myself and I did not know where to turn. Then a thought came to me, "Pray. Your Heavenly Father can help". So I did, right there in my kitchen. I cried out, "Heavenly Father, you know my needs. You know I need help from you to be able to do this. Please, Father help me". I will never forget the feeling of complete and utter peace that came over me. It was like a warm blanket had been placed upon my shoulders. With his help and strength I was able to fulfill all my responsibilities.
Another time I was heading to the hospital in the middle of the night after learning of my sister's heart attack. I was praying the whole time for safety while I traveled and to be able to do the things I needed to once I arrived. The freeways in our city are busy 24/7 but that night there wasn't a car on the road, except me. When I arrived at the hospital and learned of my sister's passing and that of her unborn child I was filled with the comfort of knowing it was Heavenly Father's plan. To this day I will never for get the feeling of peace as I carried out the responsibilities of making arrangements for her and caring for her family. Families are Eternal and we will be together again!
How I live my faith
I'm president of our church children's organization. Each Sunday we spend time discussing the Savior, Jesus Christ, and learning of him and his life. I love watching the children as they come to know of the Savior's love for them and how they can learn to be like Jesus. I'm also involved in the Boy Scouts of America where I work with boys of all ages helping them learn to be great citizens of the world. The Scout motto of "Do a Good Turn Daily" helps remind me to show kindness to others each day, to say "Thank You!" when someone has served me and to be willing to lend a hand at a moments notice.
