Hi, I'm Hayden Johnsen
I enjoy live music and leather-bound books, I excel at crashing mountain bikes, and I'm a Mormon.
About Me
I grew up in Utah and I am a ski bum! Growing up at the base of the wasatch mountains I gained a love for being outside. The mountains are my preffered playground. When I am skiing or mountain biking, I feel a true sense of happiness. I believe God wants us to enjoy our time here on earth and to find joy in whatever it may be that we pursue. The earth is an evidence to me that there is something more than this life it is too perfect to be an accident! I love music and am always looking for good music and good people to share it with! My perfect day includes fun people, good music, skis and some powder. I love to travel and spend time with my family. We spend a lot of time on the Oregon coast and some of my fondest memories can be drawn back to that wonderful place. I love my life and am so grateful for all that I have been blessed with, especially my parents and my three younger brothers! They are all such great examples to me and I dont know where I would be without them.
Why I am a Mormon
I am Mormon because of Hope. If we dont have hope what do we have? That hope can be turned into faith! Hope is wanting to believe. Faith is to act on that hope. The knowledge of being with my family after this life is something that has been promised by the Lord and is a promise that I am willing to act on. There are so many great blessings that come from following the teachings of Jesus Christ. There is nothing to lose from this Gospel! Not only are the promises and blessings great but it helps me to be a better citizen in society, a better brother, a better friend and someday a better father and husband.
Personal Stories
How has attending Church services helped you?
I use to dread going to church! I can still remember being young and sitting in the main worship service and being so sure that it would never end. When I attend church now I leave happier than when I showed up. If we go to church with the attitude of "I want to be better," the Lord will show us the ways that we can be better in all that we do. As an adult I have never gone to church and then wished that I had not gone. It is so easy to get caught up and to put regular church attendance on a back-burner but if we make it a priority the Lord will give you a clarity of mind in all other aspects of your life. I have seen it time and time again in my life.
How I live my faith
I am currently serving a mission in Birmingham, Alabama. Serving a mission is something I was never sure about through high school. Taking two years out of my education and the great life that I was living was not an easy decision. I am so grateful, however, that I made the decision to serve the Lord! Getting to share the message of Jesus Christ with the Sons and Daughters of God is a privilege. It is not always easy but I know that this is where I am supposed to be and I know there are people that the Lord has prepared to accept the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I am loving the South and I am striving to work my hardest so that others may follow the example of Jesus Christ.
