Chris: Mormon.

Hi, I'm Chris

I'm a bassist, songwriter/singer who has a love for life and Jesus Christ. I'm a Mormon!

About Me

I'm 20 years old. I grew up in the church but need as much conversion as anyone. There were missionaries that taught me and my family about the Restoration of the Gospel in a way that the Spirit could testify of the truth in a way that I had never felt before.

I'm a guitarist, bassist, singer and song-writer. I love music! All kinds! But there is a very special place in my heart for punk-rock.

I'm an athelete. I love basketball and football. I spend my brief time in the morning to exercise as well as possible. I played ball in high school. My goal is to get back in shape and try out for the basketball team at BYU.

I'm the eldest son in an eternal family. I am an older brother to two younger brothers. I can't express in adequate terms my love for my family. They are the back-bone of my character.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was 14, I was finally aware that I had the ability to do as I wanted. I questioned everything with ferocity. “Why” was my favorite word. Being an old soul and having the inclination to doubt, I never took anything that was told to me seriously until I knew for myself.

I demanded explanation why we did what we did. I was no longer content just following the rules of my parents. On Friday nights, I often stayed home and watched TV with my brothers or played video games while my friends went out and partied. Living in small town Iowa left me the only LDS kid in the middle school. I knew that they would drink, illicit behavior would be present and that a "good time" would be had. I felt like I was being deprived socially. The rules of my home were nothing but imposed restrictions that were there to make sure I didn't embarrass my parents.

It came to a head one Friday night. I had it out with my mother. I demanded answers why. Why did God want us to do what we do? Why do I have to be so different? Why do I have to tell people I don't do things because it's against my religion? She calmly answered that I must read the Book of Mormon.

Out of either spite or anger, I pick up the Book and read veraciously. I did it in a "I'll-show-you" attitude. Eventually, my heart softened and the inspired council of the doctrines of Christ led me to some incredible experiences, conclusions and realizations.

I know that Book is true. No one could have written a Book so powerful save he was inspired of God. Now It is the keystone of my religion which is based on the foundation of Christ.

I, and anyone who claims to be a Christian and desire truth, cannot deny that the Book of Mormon is another witness of Christ.

Personal Stories

Why do Mormons go on missions?

We go on missions to serve Jesus Christ. For a short time, we dedicate everything to serving Him by serving others. We look at all of the wonderful things we have been able to benefit from because of His Restored Gospel.

Another way of saying the same thing is this: We serve in to try to give back to our Father in Heaven who has given us everything. In a small way, a mission is a tithe of the life, love and other blessings He has so freely given.

How has the Book of Mormon brought you closer to God?

The Book of Mormon has been the solidifying agent of my faith and belief in God. I can stand and testify tha I know God lives because of the Book of Mormon.

Through the Book of Mormon, God has been able to reveal things to my mind in the time that I have needed them. I pray and seek His will and read His words. Through the Holy Ghost, He tells me things that I need to know to be happy and successful.

How I live my faith

I am now dedicated to preaching and teaching full-time. When I say full-time, I mean every moment of the day. I talk to all I see about the Church, about the Book of Mormon and about the miracle of Christ's life. If you ever see me, I'll gladly talk to you about what I do and what I know.
