David Child: Mormon.

Hi, I'm David Child

I'm a Mormon and proud of it! I love my membership in the church and love to help other's learn about my church.

About Me

My wife Jaclyn and I live here in Yakima, WA with our cute little kids, Dean, Ila, Julieanne, Joan and Jane.

I work as a fisheries biologist and love to go fishing in my spare time. I also work as a fly fishing guide.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, but there came a time in my life when I needed to find out if the church is true. I did and know that it is true. I hope that my kids will follow my example and find out for themselves, when their time comes.

Personal Stories

What are you doing to help strengthen your family and make it successful?

Each week we hold a special family home evening to learn as a family about the teachings of the Savior Jesus Christ and his church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Just last night we had an opening prayer, and sang a song from the kid's primary classes at church to start our family home evening. For our lesson we learned about United States history and the freedoms that paved the way for the restoration of the church into a free land, where the freedom of worship was established. We talked at length about the direction and help God provided in the establishment of the United States of America. We discussed at length the admirable life of George Washington. To tap off our fun evening we had sherbet floats.

How I live my faith

I know my Heavenly Father and his son, my Savior Jesus Christ by doing the small things in life, regularly. I feel closest to them and lead by the third member of the godhead, the Holy Ghost when I pray individually and with my family, read the scriptures and gospel centered books, serve in and attend church meetings. It is really as simple as saying your prayers, reading your scriptures and going to church. That's the foundation my faith is built upon.
