Hi, I'm Lonna Jergensen
I'm a Mormon.
About Me
I was born and grew up in southeastern Idaho. Most of my ancestors becamer members of the church about 4 generations earlier. They were taught the gospel and were baptized in England and Germany. At different times they then migrated to the United States and on to the Utah and Idaho areas where many members of the early church were established.
I attended the Church owned college, Ricks College, and obtained a Nursing Degree. Shortly after that I married my husband who was attending BYU.
We lived in San Francisco for 3 years while he attended UOP Dental School and I began our family and managed apartment buildings. We eventually settled in CA, where my husband has had a successful dental practice for 32 years.
We have 5 children, 2 daughters and 3 sons. Four have served missions and all 5 have married in the temple. As of this writing, we have 12 grandchildren whom we adore.
My life has mainly been devoted to the raising of my children. But I also have developed several hobbies. I love to sew, with one of my specialties being in quilting. I also sew bags and childrens's clothing. I love to paint with acrylics and watercolor when I can find the time. I love to throw my own pottery on a potter's wheel, when I can find the time.
In the winter we enjoy snow skiing in the Sierras. In the summer we really enjoy water skiing with our family. We love the warm water in the California lakes.
Why I am a Mormon
I was born inrto a Mormon family and was baptized at 8. I have tender memories of feelings I would receive at church and know that God was close. As I grew in the church and participated in the programs they had for children and youth, my testimony grew and grew. I remember the first time I bore my testimony out loud was at a Girl's Camp. We were in a meeting and the feeling was so strong that all I believed was true. Throughout the past 30 years experiences and feelings have convinced me that what I believe continues to be true. I have no doubt. Life makes sense amidst all the confusion in the world. I am grateful for guidance and standards that help my lfe be more productive and happy. I wouldn't want to live any other way.
How I live my faith
I work at trying to have charitable feelings to all. I think it's important for us to show tolerance for everyone.
I have been privileged to serve for many years in the schools that my children attended while they grew up. I served as a home room mother for many classes. In high school I volunteered in classes and served on the Site Committee for a few years. I enjoyed being active where my children were.
I have also served all my life in the church. I have served in the Primary where the children are taught and also in the youth programs. I think I liked working the teen agers best. I have also served in the women's Relief Society organization. I have had several leadership callings that have helped me develop new skills.
