About Me

My family lives in mississippi. We love to do outdoors activities as a family. We often go camping, our last trip was on the Appilacian trail. We had a great time and created good memories.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up in the Mormon church but there came a time when just going to church because my parents went wasn't enough. I am a Mormon now because I've have had spiritual witnesses of the truthfulness of the different aspects of the church. For example I have learned that the Book of Mormon is a true book inspired by God and written by ancient prophets that lived in the Americas before during and after the time of Christ. As I read its pages, ponder and pray about its teachings my heart is filled with joy which I know comes from our Heavenly Father. It inspires me to want to be a better husband, father and friend.

How I live my faith

Because I believe that Christ leads this church through modern day prophets by revelation, and because I want to live by His teachings, I try to live my life by the gospel principles I learn. This church has given me many opportunties to serve in different ways. Right now I am one of the leaders of a local congregation. This is not my profession nor do I get paid. I am not naturally an extrovert and like Moses I wouldn't consider public speech one of my talents. Despite my weaknesses I have the privilege of serving others in ways that I could never have imagined and I am happy to do it. The Book of Mormon teaches that when you are in the service of your fellow beings you are only in the service of your God.
Jesus Christ lived a perfect life and did all that the Father asked of Him. He suffered unimaginable pains for our sins and died that we may live. Our Father in Heaven wants to give to us, His children, all that He has, even eternal life. Because of my understanding of this and other gospel principles, I want to understand God's will concerning me and then live by it in my daily life.

What do Mormons believe about the Holy Ghost? Who is the Holy Ghost?

Over the years I have given this question a lot of thought. The Holy Ghost is a spiritual being and is a member of the Godhead along with God the Father and Jesus Christ. The Holy Ghost has the job of communicating with us through our minds and in our hearts. With this communication He testifies of God the Father and of Jesus Christ. He also comforts us in our sorrows and testifies of the truthfulness of things presented to us, especially when our minds are willing to be taught and our hearts are willing to accept and live the by the truths He testifies of. Oh what a great privilege to be able to receive this communication directly from a member of the Godhead.

Why did your church previously practice plural marriage (polygamy)?

Mormons practiced polygamy because the Lord commanded some of them to do so, for purposes known to the Lord. At the time, there were no national laws prohibiting polygamy. When the Supreme Court ruled that later anti-polygamy laws were constitutional, the Lord directed Pres. Woodruff to issue the Manifesto, and the practice ended in the Church.
