Shayleen: Mormon.

Hi, I'm Shayleen

I am a mother of 4. I play the violin. I'm a social runner. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother of 4 sweet kids ranging from 11 to 2 years old. I have played the violin for 22 years and although I am not a fantastic violinist I enjoy playing and challenging myself to play difficult songs. I taught my husband to play the violin when we were newlyweds and now we enjoy playing duets together. I like to go running mainly when there is someone to go with. I never was a runner until 2010 when I decided I needed to be more physically active and healthy. Luckily, I have a great group of girlfriends that encouraged me and helped me prepare to run the Nashville Women's Half Marathon in September 2010. And I ran my second Half Marathon in October 2011 called the Silver Comet. It was a beautiful run!

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in a loving LDS 'Mormon' family. My parents taught me all they could about living the Commandments. They themselves were good examples of that. But there came a time in my life, when I was a teenager, I had to gain my own testimony. I had trials and struggles because of some of the bad decisions I made as a teenager. But it was through those trials and struggles that I gained my own testimony of the church. I started to see that the times in my life that I was the happiest were the times that I was living the commandments and doing what I knew I should be doing. As I was more diligent about reading my scriptures, saying my prayers and obeying my parents I was more HAPPY. I LOVED that feeling of happiness and didn't want it to leave.

How I live my faith

I am the Nursery leader at church on Sundays. The childrens ages range from 18 months to 3 years. I love seeing these sweet little children each week. They have such sweet little spirits. They are so happy and excited to come to church and to learn about Jesus.
