Hi, I'm Steven
I'm an electrician, husband, father, and I'm a Mormon.
About Me
I'm 35, married to a wonderful woman, have 3 children, 5 years old and younger, and I'm trying to raise my children to have faith in Christ and live with good standards. I live in Georgia, but grew up in California. I do commercial electrical work to support my family. I've recently gone back to college and got my bachelor's degree in computer information systems. I enjoy spending time with my family, going on vacations, and doing projects around the house. I like to cook, experimenting with the meals sometimes.
Why I am a Mormon
I know that what the church teaches is true. It gives me the proper perspective in life. I know that I am a child of God, that I lived before I was born, and that I will live after this life. The church gives meaning and purpose to my life, and helps me to be a better husband, father, and person.
Personal Stories
Please share your feelings/testimony of Joseph Smith.
Joseph Smith was called to be a prophet, just like there were prophets in Bible times. When he was just 14 years old, Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ appeared to him in answer to a prayer. I know this is true because I know the Book of Mormon is true (Joseph Smith translated it), and because I have received a witness from the Holy Ghost that Joseph Smith was a true prophet. Joseph was killed by a mob because he would not deny what he knew to be true. Joseph testified of Christ all his life. We don't worship Joseph Smith, but honor him for what he did to help bring back the church of Jesus Christ in modern times. Our church centers on Jesus Christ, that he overcame sin and death, and provided the only way back to our Father in Heaven. I am thankful that Joseph was a faithful witness of Christ, and for the scriptures that were revealed through him in our day. We use these scriptures along with the Bible to help and guide us back to our Father in Heaven.
Which of the Savior’s teachings have influenced you?
I think the Savior's teaching to love our neighbor as ourselves has had a very good influence in my life. I think of the scripture that says that when Christ will come again, he will render to every person according to how that person treated his fellow man. I think that this teaching has helped me to treat others well.
How I live my faith
I teach the 12 and 13 year old boys in my church. I am also the assistant scoutmaster in our boy scout troop. I enjoy teaching these young men about the gospel. I have a 5 year old son, and I look forward to the time that he will be that age. I try to prepare meaningful lessons that will increase their faith, and help them make good decisions in their lives now and affect their future for good.

Joseph Smith
As is the case throughout history God has communicated to His children through prophets. God used a humble man as a prophet to restore His Church on earth who ultimately died defending His faith.
