Hi, I'm Reece Johnson
I grew up in British Columbia, I am a landscaper, and I'm a Mormon.
About Me
My name is Reece and I am a Mormon, I am twenty four years old and was born a member. I enjoy being a member of The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter Day Saints, it has really blessed my life. I am currently working as a landscaper but I want to go to school and would like to work as a child councilor/psychologist. I enjoy listening to music and watching all sorts of movies, I have been drumming for seven years and love to play floor hockey. I absolutely love attending church activities and Sunday meetings and spending time with family and friends.
Why I am a Mormon
I am a mormon because I know that there is a god and that we did in fact choose to follow heavenly fathers plan. I know that god does and will bless his children according to our obedience, Joseph Smith was and is a true prophet who restored the true and everlasting gospel. I also know that Thomas S. Monson and the other general authorities and Auxiliaries, have been called by god to lead and guide us in these latter days, Thomas S. Monson is the true and living prophet. I am sure I speak for many if not all Latter Day Saints Mormons when I say that we indeed thank thee oh god for a prophet.
I love the gospel, it has really effected my life in such a good way, I know it is true and that this is the way in which we can return to live with our heavenly father.
The Gospel to me is more than just going to church, it is understanding the doctrine of Christ, and applying the principles I learn from it to my daily life, I strive everyday to become more Christ like, and I know that as I do so I can be a greater effect on those around me, as I strive to show Christ like love and serve those in need, I know that I can bless the lives of others and strengthen my own testimony of the gospel.
Personal Stories
Please share your feelings/testimony of Joseph Smith.
When I think of Joseph Smith I feel a sense of gratitude for all that he went through to bring forth this church, the amount of suffering he endured really is a testament to the work he did. I know that he is/was the first prophet of this dispensation, he did in fact restore the fullness of Christ doctrine on this earth today.
I know that Joseph translated the book of Mormon by and through the power of god, it is true scripture, and is another testament of Jesus Christ.
Which of the Savior’s teachings have influenced you in your life?
I think his teachings of forgiveness have influenced me most, and more particularilly more recently, I think for someone to know and understand that he really does care about each and everyone of us is important. I was at a point in my life where I thought he did not care about me, but I know now this is not true Joseph recieved this modern revelation which states
Doctrine and Covenants 18:10
"10 Remember the worth of souls is great in the sight of God;" Every soul being on this planet is important to our heavenly father, and when we realize this we can also realize that because of his love for us he is also willing to forgive us when we make mistakes.
How I live my faith
I live my faith by striving to keep the commandments and include personal prayer and scripture study apart of my daily life. As well as attending sacrament meetings on Sunday and other various church activities throughout the week.
I love to study the gospel and give talks and prepare lessons to teach. I am constantly seeking opportunities to serve both temporally and through my priesthood duties. I also dilligently seek oportunities for missionary work.
