Hi, I'm Lot
I'm a student, I'm a cancer survivor, I'm a Mormon.
About Me
I'm a university student of actuarial science. I enjoy indoor and outdoor sports such as hiking, motorbiking, basketball and soccer. I enjoy staying current on political matters and eating italian food. I recently finished chemotherapy and am now a cancer survivor.
Why I am a Mormon
I am a Mormon for many different reasons, but the most compelling reason is because I have personally felt a witness from the Holy Ghost that the Book of Mormon is the word of God and that Joseph Smith was a true prophet. Once I came to know these two things, I knew that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the Lord's true church established on the earth. This testimony came from following the promise in the Book of Mormon. The promise tells us that if we will read and ponder about the Book of Mormon and then ask our Heavenly Father with faith, sincerity, and real intent to know if it is true, then He will send the Holy Ghost to our hearts to confirm that it is true. I know that this promise is real because I have personally felt that confirming witness from the Holy Ghost. The feelings are hard for me to describe but they were feelings that spoke right to my heart and in a way that I could never deny them.
Personal Stories
How has the Book of Mormon brought you closer to God?
The Book of Mormon helps me to understand what my Heavenly Father expects of me and it helps me to feel of His love. Every time that I read the Book of Mormon looking for I help I find it. I know the Book of Mormon is true because when I study it I am able to feel the Holy Spirit. Reading the Book of Mormon helps me to know that Jesus Christ lives. It helps me to know that if I follow His commandments that I will be happy and will return to live with Him someday. This knowlegde gives me hope and strength.
Why do Mormons go on missions?
Serving a mission is one of many ways that we can share with others the things that make us the most happy. Jesus Christ left the apostles with a charge to take the gospel into all the world so that everybody would have the opportunity to feel of the peace and joy that only living the gospel brings. Mormons serve missions to better share what we know to be true. When we share our feelings about the things that we have found to be true and invite others to find out for themselves, it allows them the opportunity to come to the knowledge of the truth and personally feel the hope and strength that comes with that knowledge.
How I live my faith
I live my faith by daily striving to follow the example of Jesus Christ. I try to treat others with kindness and respect Daily prayer and scripture study helps me find ways that I can better myself and how to help others. I attend church on Sunday to partake of the sacrament and to study from the scriptures.
