I enjoy the outdoors! Snowboarding, hiking, rock climbing, and fishing are some of my favorite hobbies! I also make life size balloon sculptures! I am trying to teach myself to play 3 musical instruments, none of which I can play very well but I have fun! I always love a new challenge and a new adventure! I try to help others as often as I can and share my feelings of the gospel!
I came in contact with the church early on in my life however I did not have an interest in religion until a series of events in my life took place. I began to wonder who I was, where I came from, where am I going, is there a God, and many other questions people commonly encounter during their lives. I found the answers to these questions in the Book of Mormon. As I continued meeting with the missionaries I soon found there was not a single question that I had that they were not able to answer. I had finally found the truth! Throughout my life I have enjoyed learning and expanding my horizons so when I made the decision to be baptized into the church I was able to jump in with both feet and I haven't looked back since!
The church that Jesus Christ himself established when he was on the earth was centered around missionary work. We believe that this is the same church Jesus Christ established on the earth when he was here but the difference is that we believe it has been 'restored'. You can find out more about the meaning of the term restoration by reading about it under the 'our faith' tab but essentially it means that Jesus Christ's original church was lost from the earth with the death of the church leaders. However, because Jesus Christ lives today he has called new apostles and prophets to reestablish the church. So duty is a large part of why we go on missions but more than that it is about love. I did not fully understand why I was going on a mission when I went on one but I soon found out the world needs the message that we have been blessed to have in our lives! I learned that not everyone knows who Jesus Christ is and many people don't know how to build a relationship with him. As missionaries we are able to help people fill the empty spaces in their hearts that oftentimes they didn't even know where there. As we serve missions we become better people. We learn to have charity, faith, humility, and diligence. We try to become the best people we can so we can help our Heavenly Father to bring his children safely home to him! We then use these developed attributes to serve others throughout the remainder of our lives!
I recently returned from a mission in the Southwestern United States. I learned many great things on my mission such as the importance of a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, the power of repentance, how to love, how to serve others, and how to trust God in all things. However serving a mission was a stage in my life and now I am finding other ways to live my faith. I study the scriptures every morning when I get up (this has made a huge difference in who I am!), I pray often, I go to church on Sundays, and throughout the week I help those in need and try to share the gospel when I am given the opportunity!
