Hi, I'm April
"Stay at home" Mom that does everything but stay at home! I Love being there full time for my kids! -I'm a Mormon.
About Me
I am a busy Mom of 4 that loves to read and write. I teach an Art Class after school at my kid's elementary school. I enjoy dancing, running, hanging with family and friends and shopping. I spend lots of time shuttling kids to activities, assisting with soccer practice and helping with homework. My favorite job is being a Mom, with all its ups and downs!
Why I am a Mormon
Although I grew up in the church with a strong family, I think that I began to realize how important the gospel was to me when I was in college. I had to read and study on my own to gain a testimony of the Savior and his atonement without relying on the knowledge of my parents. I have experienced peace and happiness through my decisions to marry in the temple and raise my family in the LDS church.
Personal Stories
What are you doing to help strengthen your family and make it successful?
We have a night once a week where we gather together to spend time together and have fun. We usually plan a spiritual lesson, sing some songs, play a game and end with a prayer and a treat. Of course my kids favorite part is the treat! Also my opportunity to stay at home with them has blessed my life and hopefully my children's lives.
What have you done successfully to shield your family from unwanted influences?
Although it is difficult to completely shield your family from all unwanted influences, we have always tried to know who our kids friends are and to have them over often. We monitor television and internet for content that we feel is inappropriate and make a point to let our kids know what are expectations of them are when they are not at home.
How I live my faith
I am currently working with the women over 18 years old in the church and I help to organize activities for them to strengthen their marriages and family, teach homemaking skills, strengthen their spirituality and learn to be more self reliant. I also teach regularly on Sundays during a meeting that is held just for the women. My family loves to have the missionaries over for dinner or to teach our family and my kids look forward to visits from them. I appreciate the example of service that the missionaries set for my kids.
