Adam: Mormon.

Hi, I'm Adam

I grew up in Broomfield, Colorado. I am a university student and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Hi, I am Adam, I am university student studying the humanities. I am preparing to become a teacher. I love to study and learn new things especially about different cultures. I lived in England for a while and loved getting to know the people there.

I like to spend time with my friends and especially love playing sports with them. I particularly like soccer and ultimate frisbee.

Why I am a Mormon

Though I grew up a Mormon, I am a Mormon now because I know that living what I have been taught has made me happy.

When I lived in England, I started wondering if what I had grown up with was true. I never questioned what I had been taught before that time. These doubts caused me to reflect a lot and seek help from God through prayer.

He answered my prayer in a talk that I listened to one day. As the speaker closed his talk, he said something that pierced my soul. He said, "When you have doubts, look to the fruits (or results) of your feelings." In that moment, I knew what I had been taught was right.

I have been so blessed by living the principles I have been taught. I am not wealthy, famous or extremely talented, but I am happy. I am happy because I have what cannot be bought or sold: peace, love, and hope.

Personal Stories

How has your knowledge of the Plan of Happiness changed/benefited your life?

While I was living in England, my last surviving grandmother passed away and I was unable to attend her funeral. All my other grandparents died before I was ten so she was the only one I got to know well. I was very sad to hear she had passed away considering I had not seen her for two years.

However, I did not mourn for I knew that she was not permanently gone. I know, through the Plan of Happiness, that I will see her again. My grandmother was a special person who I loved dearly. In my visits with her before I left for England, she told me how much she missed her husband (who had died 20 years previously) and how she couldn't wait to be with him again.

Her knowledge brought a knowledge that life continues after this life and because of that, my faith has grown. I know my grandmother still lives on and I will be with her again.

How I live my faith

Though I grew up as a Mormon, I have always had close friends who do not believe what I believe.

One friend in high school did not have a belief in God and we would often discuss the topic of religion or why the Mormons would do something or not do something. We always had positive conversations and both of us would feel like we knew more about the other view.

I always try to let my friends know where I stand and why I choose to live the way I do.
