About Me

I am a girl. I am a graduate of the Ohio University with a degree in Journalism. I am currently in pursuit of my master's/graduate degree in secondary education. I served a mission in the Spain Malaga mission. I speak Spanish and English. I have two sisters.

Why I am a Mormon

I know it is the Lord's true Church. I know the Book of Mormon is another testament of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. It makes me happy to live the commandments and follow the precepts of the gospel to the best of my ability. It gives me peace to be enlightened by the knowledge of the plan of salvation. Mostly, it's because I know it is true.

How has the Book of Mormon brought you closer to God?

I love reading it. I have a testimony of the truthfulness of the Bible. However, I always learn something new when I read the Book of Mormon. I like holding it and having it and knowing that it is unchanged by the hands of men. It makes me realize that the Lord continues to reveal His word to His children.

Why do Mormons go on missions?

In many instances, the Lord has commanded that we share the gospel. While one does not have to serve a mission or be a full-time missionary to share the gospel, it shows character, diligence, humility, gratitude, sacrifice, faith, virtue and many other attributes when one is willing to serve a mission. It also shows a willingness to follow this commandment.

How I live my faith

Daily - one step at a time and with much patience. I try to be an example, but it is definitely a trying effort.

Faith is action. Faith is demonstrated by our actions, not by our words. Faith is going forward in life without knowing the outcome. Faith is trust in our Father and knowing that He knows what is best for us.

Faith is taking action because of a hope in something. Often the Savior asks of us to do certain things or live in certain ways. When we see a stranger in distress, we stop and help them as Jesus commanded us to in the Good Samaritan Luke 10:25. The act of helping is the evidence of our Faith in Christ. We are asked to tithe. Tithing is evidence of our faith. We tithe in hopes of the promises in Malachi 3:10 that the floodgates of Heaven are open to us.
Faith is when we put our beliefs and hope into action.

What is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' attitude regarding homosexuality and same sex marriage?

This is one of the hardest subjects because in today's world the only accepted dialog is love or hate. We firmly decree that homosexual behavior is sinful. This does not speak to the individual, who they are or the feelings they have. Each of us face feelings and desires, some of which are contrary to the will of the Lord. This is one of them.

Our Heavenly Father does not judge us on these feelings, but how we act on them. If feelings are converted to behavior, then sin has been committed.

We believe that marriage is a sacred institution, one that God has intended to be shared between man and woman. We do not believe it is for us to redefine it, and as such would not support a change that would legitimize behavior believed to be sinful.

We love all of God's children. I have several friends who identify themselves as homosexuals. I consider them friends even though my beliefs hurt and frustrate them. I try to help them understand that I can love them and care about them while maintaining these beliefs. Likewise, I would always defend them against discrimination and bullying.
