Hi, I'm Cami
I grew up in Boise Idaho. I like playing sports, reading, and having fun with my family.
About Me
I taught Elementary School before my first son was born. I enjoy the simple beauties in life like giggling with my children and taking walks on a beautiful fall day.
Why I am a Mormon
I was raised in a home by nurturing parents who taught me the gospel of Jesus Christ. When I was 15, I wondered for myself if Joseph Smith really did see Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I prayed to Heavenly Father on my knees one night, and asked him if Joseph Smith saw Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. I had a warm peaceful feeling come over me. I knew through my tears that indeed everything that my parents taught me as a child was true. This was one of the happiest moments in my life. I knew that the church of Jesus Christ had been restored by the prophet Joseph Smith. I knew that there was a living prophet in our day who was led and guided by Jesus Christ.
Personal Stories
Please explain the part prayer plays in your life?
Whether I kneel down and pray, or whether I say a prayer in my heart, I know that Heavenly Father hears me. I know that he can bless me with peace, give me the answers I need, or bless me with understanding. We can pray for specific trials that we are facing, we can pray to express our gratitude, and we can pray for others. When I am sincerely praying, I find more joy in every day life.
How has The Book of Mormon helped you understand the purpose of life?
I love reading the stories of the people in the Ancient Americas. I love reading of thier testimonies and their faith in Jesus Christ. As I read the Book of Mormon, my faith is strengthened. I feel God's love for me. I feel of His desire for me to return to his presence. I know that He wants to bless me. I feel closer to Him as I read the Book of Mormon.
How I live my faith
I pray and read the Book of Mormon individually and as a family. My husband and I are teaching my two year old son how to pray. He loves to sing "Jesus songs" as he calls them and requests us to sing his favorites. I love teaching him about the Savior and about the prophets in the Book of Mormon and in the Bible. He is still very young, but I am always surprised at how much he remembers. I love to write in my journal, and reflect on the many blessings that Heavenly Father has given me. I feel that when I express my thanks in prayer, I feel closer to Heavenly Father. I go to church every Sunday with my family, and teach the 10 and 11 year old class. We are studying the New Testament right now. We studied the Old Testament last year.
