Why I am a Mormon

I belong to the true restored Church of Jesus Christ. I am thankful for this every day of my life. I am a Mormon because the teachings and feelings you receive from attending this church are better and more inspirational and make more sense than any other church out there.

Why do Mormons go on missions?

My purpose as a missionary is to Invite others to come unto Christ by helping them recieve the restored gospel through faith in Jesus Christ and His atonement, repentance, baptism, recieving the gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end. Basically, we believe it is our responsibility to spread what we know so that all of God's children may come unto him and repent, and feel the love and blessings of our Father in Heaven that we may all return and live with him.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by doing my best to keep the commandments my Savior Jesus Christ has given us, whether it be helping others, keeping a positive attitude, or just simply getting on my kneeknee's. Currently I am serving as a missionary in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil seeking to share with others the knowledge and joy the gospel brings into their lives. I couldn't be more grateful for this opportunity!

What do Mormons believe about family?

Family is the most important thing to Mormons. We believe that family consists of Marriage (between men and women only) and their children. We believe that families can be together forever, even after we depart from this life. That is one of the most beautiful aspects of our Heavenly Father's plan- that we can be together with the ones we love forever if we do our best to keep the laws which he has outlined for us.

The family is a key component to support us in God's plan for gaining immortality and eternal life. All of God's children (all the inhabitants that lived, are living, and will live on Earth) are inseperably connected to each other, both (physically) by our Earthly families and (spiritually) by our Heavenly Father.

Families help us to understand our divine heritage. In this, life takes on purpose and meaning. Our immortal spirits were created by our Heavenly Father before Earthly existance, and we are directly connected to Him in this way. As a spiritual family, our collective purpose on Earth is to follow the commandments of God that lead us to live in heaven with Him again.

Our spirits need to progress, learn, and grow. In order to achieve that, Earthly existance was created as our test. Our Heavenly Father knew that being exposed to opposing forces on Earth was the only way for us to gain knowledge and wisdom.

However, we will not always choose righteousness, and so our Savior, Jesus Christ, is that great mediator to pay the debt of our mistakes. He is the only way by which we can be saved from our sins and transgressions. He is the ultimate example by which direction we need to live our lives. With the support of our earthly kin, we can learn from each other, serve each other, and strengthen our mortal weaknesses by being disciples of Christ. Our families are a gift from God, and we can be together forever.

Why don’t women hold the priesthood in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints? How do Mormon women lead in the Church?

I feel that men and women both have different but equally important roles in getting us back to God. In God's eternal plan we were spirits in His presence before this life. To progress we needed to get bodies on this earth, then perform specific ordinances (eg baptism, marriage) to return to God after this life. Women were given the godly power to bring spirits into this world and give them bodies, then nurture and raise these children with God's inspiration and guidance. The men were assigned the responsibility (through the God's Priesthood power) to serve others and administer the ordinances that will bring God's children back to His presence after this life. Both roles are necessary and equally important to God's plan for us.
I don't think women need the Priesthood to be powerful influences and to do God's work in their homes and in the church. I see men grow spiritually, and their characters become more godly when they act in God's name through using the Priesthood.
I have never felt the need to hold the Priesthood myself. I can still receive all the blessings offered by the Priesthood, my prayers can be just as powerful, and I still have access to the inspiration of God in my life.
