Scott : Mormon.

Hi I'm Scott

About Me

I'm happy, I love sports, music, friends, family. I like to have fun, be active and hang out with friends and talking to people. My favorite thing to do is learn new things.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up as a memeber of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but like most people there comes a point in your life where you must know for yourself if what you believe is true. I followed what my parents and family believed all of my life until I had that desire to really know for myself if this is what I want. It wasn't easy and didn't all come at once. Over time I began to read the scriptures,The Book of Mormon and the Bible, and quickly began to take interest in the many stories and teachings found within them. I read and read on and off for a while until I decided I needed to do as the scriptures teach--pray to God to know for yourself if they are true. My first initial attempt wasn't anything more than is this true but apon having no answer come I learned that pray requires faith and most importantly sincerity. As I understood this and applied it to my prayers I was then able to recieve a witness for myself that the Book of Mormon is the word of God along with the Bible. It didn't come in a voice or a vision, but rather in a warm, peaceful feeling that it was good. By appyling the teaching of the scriptures and using that faith and sincerity to really know, I know now why I am a Mormon.

Personal Stories

How has the Book of Mormon brought you closer to God?

Because the Book of Mormon is another Testament of Jesus Christ we can learn more about Him. In the Book of Mormon in 2 Nephi 2526 it clearly states just that,. "And we talk of Christ, we rejoice in Christ, we preach of Christ, we prophesy of Christ, and we write according to our prophecies, that our children may know to what source they may look for a dremission of their sins." As I read more about my Savior and his teachings found in the Book of Mormon I understand more about what I need to do to follow his example. By following his example I am happier and closer to Him.

In what ways have your prayers been answered?

For me the first thing that helped me to know my prayers were answered was knowing that God was really there and was listening. I had always prayed but after talking to a friend about prayer and his experience with them I thought I dont know if I have ever really felt that God was actually listening to me. One night I decided to ask while I was praying if Heavenly Father was really there or not. If my friend could know then why couldn't I? Doesn't Heavenly Father love all of us the same? As I began to pray I stopped in the middle of my prayer and just asked, "Heavenly Father are you there? Are you listening to me?" At first I didn't really feel anything or get an answer and so I asked again. Again I felt nothing. With all the sincerity in me I asked for the third time. If I was to recieve answers to my prayers I needed to know if God was really there and listening to me. As I asked for the third time, I felt feelings of peace come over me, and inside I felt that he was there and really did care about me. He was listening. He does care. Since then I have tried to be more sincere about my prayers because I know he answers us. Sometimes its hard to have that sincerity, and often we dont get our answer right when we want it, but when we sincerely ask we can know answers to questions, recieve comfort when we are experiencing sorrow, and most important repent and ask for forgiveness and the strength to do better and change. I know now that prayer is real and that we really do have a conversation with our Heavenly Father.

How I live my faith

If there is one thing that makes me happy in life it is helping other people grow. There is nothing greater than watching people make changes and discover happiness in their lives. That is exactly how I live my faith. I am currently a missionary helping people make those changes. I want to help everyone have the happiness that comes from reading the scriptures and trying to become more like our Savior Jesus Christ. As a missionary I have the opportunity to talk to complete strangers, and tell them about Jesus Christ and how I have come to know the gospel of Jesus Christ is true. As they are willing to listen and do the things we invite them to do such as, read the scriptures, pray to our Heavenly Father, and come to Church, they always recieve blessings in their life and gain a stronger testimony and relationship with Jesus Christ. I do my best to live a happy life and try to become better everyday.
