About Me

I'm from Atlanta, Georgia. My favorite hobbies are writing and drawing. It's always been the best way for me to express my ideas, and I like to read, write and draw in the spare time that I have. I've been a user of Photoshop and GIMP ever since my early teenage years and I plan to pursue a career in Graphic Design as soon as I return home.

Why I am a Mormon

I've seen all around growing up ideas and doctrines that don't build anything but fear and disappointment, but is that really what Jesus Christ taught? Is living by fear of God, instead of love and reverence really what God and His Beloved Son want from us? When I read the Book of Mormon, I feel peace. Jesus was wise, but His gospel is simple, and what the church and the Book of Mormon teach us about families, the restored gospel, and about God are powerful, but simple as well.

How I live my faith

I'm currently serving as a full-time missionary in the Nevada Las Vegas West Mission. Las Vegas is quite the transition from someone coming from Georgia, especially with the dryness! Still, I am enjoying the work very much and can already recognize all of the positive changes it is having on my life.

What is Mormonism? OR What do Mormons believe?

Mormons believe in the "Book of Mormon." Hence the nickname. We also believe that the gospel of Jesus Christ,-gospel meaning "good news"-, has been restored in its fulness and simplicity to the Earth, by a loving God, through a living prophet. We believe the priesthood that Christ and His Apostles held has returned giving the authority to mankind to perform the ordinances of salvation, such as baptism. We believe that families are the most important unit now and in eternity and that those bonds which we have made in this life can last forever. Most importantly, we believe that God lives and that anyone can know if these things are true through prayer and the power of the Holy Ghost.

Who was Joseph Smith?

Over my lifetime, I have heard countless theories concerning Joseph Smith - his intellect, his integrity, his sanity, everything about him. Some of the stories about him being a prophet sounded convincing... but then, some of the stories of him as a criminal sounded convincing, too. Then I read about Joseph Smith's visitation by the angel Moroni. Moroni told him that his name would be "had for good and evil among all nations, kindreds, and tongues, or that it should be both good and evil spoken among all people." Well, that was certainly a true prophecy. So, it seemed, whether Joseph Smith was a prophet or not, tons of accusations and slander would be said against him anyway! That realization made me understand that only God could confirm whether or not Joseph was truly called of him. I got a strong confirmation of that truth. When others tell me that they "know the truth about the Joseph Smith," I always question their sources - it's usually a book or magazine article, possibly even by an esteemed, intellectual person. But I cannot and will not question my source of the real answer.
