I love to play sports. especially water polo, and basketball, but i love being a missionary more. Being able to help others each day is the greatest feeling and doing it every day is a blessing.

Why I am a Mormon

I was born into the church. As a teenager I had many doubts about the things that i now know to be true, but i had some wonderful family members and others in my life who challenged me to find out for myself if the church, and the Book of Mormon were indeed true. After reading the Book of Mormon and praying about it I got my answer and knew it was true.

How I live my faith

Each day I got out and teach people about the wonderful truths that have been brought back to us in these times. I love teaching people that their Heavenly Father loves them and that we are all his children, i love to teach about where we came from and why we are here on earth.
I live my faith each day by just trying to be the best example i can be, and by following Jesus Christ.

Are all Mormons required to serve a mission?

No, Young men are expected to because it is a commandment from God. Christ gave the commandment to spread the gospel, therefore as members in his church we respond diligently to that call.
Being a missionary I can say that the blessings definantly outweigh the sacrafice. Some young men choose to not serve a mission and miss an incredible life changing experience, others may not be able to do so because of health or other problems.
Young women are encouraged to serve as well, and the many that do recieve great blessings from it.

Quite simply, no. The young men of the church have been strongly encouraged to serve a mission at age 19, and the sisters are able to serve at age 21, but no one is required to serve. We do it because we want to! Who in their right mind would give up two years and pay that's right, missionaries pay their own way to go somewhere they had never been and do all that they do? We serve missions becuase we know that Jesus is the Christ, and we want the happiness that knowledge bring to be available to everyone! So no, Mormons are not required to serve a mission. It's a personal choice to share the happiness and joy they've received from the Gospel.

What are some things that tell to you there is a God?

I identify with Fyodor Dostoevsky, who once wrote: "It is not as a child that I believe and confess Jesus Christ. My hosanna is born of a furnace of doubt." I respect people who find it difficult or impossible to believe, because of the incongruity of so much unjustifiable hurt and pain in the world or because the affirmative evidence for God's existence does not seem compelling. But yet I believe. I believe in a God who is powerful, knowledgeable, loving and good. I see God in the heavens and earth. I see God in the principles of physics, evolution and natural selection, psychology, engineering, mathematics, the arts and the humanities, among others. I see God in the multitude of faith (or nonfaith) traditions throughout the world and among all peoples, giving meaning, purpose and direction to God's children and creations. Yes, there is much inexplicable hurt, pain and injury in the world, and yes, God's respect for our free will and freedom to believe requires that the evidence for God be noncompelling. I do not pretend to know easy answers; I look forward one day to receiving explanations or understanding of those tough questions. In the meantime, I am grateful for the whisperings from God's spirit and for occasional experiences that, to me, seem like "postcards from God", confirming to me God's love and care for me and for all creation. I have never seen God personally, but I have experienced God and I have met God's children and seen God's creations.
