Quinten: organ, missionary, Hmong, organist, Hmoob, Mormon.

Hi, I'm Quinten

I'm from Upstate New York. I'm an organist. I speak Hmong. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I love music! Especially sacred music. I love to play the organ, and I want to do it for the rest of my life. I have studied organ performance at an American university, and want to study sacred music thereafter. I love the hymns of the church, and I love music!

Right now, I am taking a few years off from college to serve as a missionary for the Church in California, teaching the Hmong people. It is a fun challenge, with many experiences and blessings flowing from it. It is a difficult language, but I am glad to be doing this!

Also, I like to read. I like to play. I like to do yard work, and a little gardening on the side. I like to meet with friends. I have random interests in travel and planning.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormom because I know that the things they beleive are true. I have discovered for myself, through asking God, that these things are true.

I was "born" into the church, like many other people. I went to church with my parents every Sunday. I think that I have always known deep down inside that these things are true. But, I have come to know that this is what I beleive, what I know.

I think it all started in my second year of college. I was laying in my bed one night, alone in my room. I had the desire to pray. I prayed, out loud, looking up towards the heavens, talking to God. Since that time, I have come to beleive that these things are true, through living my faith and asking God!

Since that time, I have learned the path that the Lord wants us to take. As I follow this path, I can live with my Heavenly Father again.

Personal Stories

How can your talents and gifts bless others?

The biggest talent I can see in my life, the gift of music, especially playing on the organ, can bless others in many ways. As an organist, I do my best to make an enviroment where the Holy Ghost can dwell, and testify of the truths of the gospel. Music has the power to change lives. It can have a profound effect on the soul.

Why do Mormons go on missions?

I decided to serve a mission for the Church because I know of the joy that living the Gospel. I have seen it in my life, in the life of my family, and in the life of many friends. I have also seen the pain that comes from not following the Gospel. I want all to know that there is a way to receiv forgiveness for the mistakes we have made, that death is not the end of life, and that "men are that they might have joy".

How I live my faith

I live my faith by keeping the commandments!

I read the Bible, especially the New Testament, along with the Book of Mormon and other scripture. I pray every day to my Father in Heaven. I attend church every Sunday. I try to keep the commandments every day!

I serve His children here on the earth. Right now, I am serving as a missionary for the Church in California, speaking Hmong. As I go door-to-door, day-by-day, I am teaching the people about Jesus Christ and his restored Gospel. I do this because I want others to experience the same joy that I have felt and still feel.

I also play the organ at church, even while serving as a missionary. I know that playing the hymns of the church, which testify of Christ and His gospel, helps others to feel the presence of the Holy Spirit. I arange hymns on my very limited free-time, reminding myself and others that the gospel is beautifully simple.

I help out wherever, whenever, and whatever I can.
