Lisa: Mormon.

Hi, I'm Lisa

I stay home working to be the best wife and mom that I can be. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a stay-at-home mom of 4. Even though my oldest is 20 and my youngest is 12, I still enjoy being there for them at home. Last year my husband was unemployed for 8 long months. Through our food storage, savings, being debt-free, and also cutting out unnecessaries, we were able to keep our home and pay all our bills. Our faith also saw us through the challenges and continues to be our guiding force.

Why I am a Mormon

I grew up a member of the church, but the reason I'm a Mormon today is not because of that. I am a member because Jesus Christ is real to me and gives me the grace each day that makes up for all that I lack. I have prayed to God to feel his spirit and recieved answers that were undeniably from Him. He knows me and loves me. I prayed to know for myself that this church was His. I know that there are good people of every religion, doing great things, but this church belongs to Jesus Christ. He leads it. This church has answers that others don't because it has a fullness of Christ's gospel. I am a Mormon but it is really that I belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Personal Stories

Can you think of a specific challenge in your family that Gospel Principles helped overcome?

When my husband was unemployed for several months, we were fortunate to have some savings and some food storage. When our food ran low, we went to the church for help and received food to help us. When we were almost out of money, I hit an emotional low point. I didn't lose my faith but wondered if we would have to move and give up the nice things we had. We had cut back already on everything we could and I wondered if God could deliver us. I knew that He could if He wanted to, so I prayed with all my heart that he would bring a job to my husband that very week. I knew He could do it. I was desperately seeking an answer and in my earnestness I did feel an answer come into my mind. It was not what I expected, which was a confirmation to me that this was really an answer from Him. The words in my mind were that He could make something happen this week but it wold not be the best thing. I knew that if I trusted Him, He would not let me fall. It was 3 more months before we found a job, but our mortgage company worked with us and we were able to make it through. Sometimes we are required to stretch our faith to make it stronger. Just knowing that my Father in Heaven loved me and I could put my trust in Him made all the difference in my ability to have the faith that everything would work out all right. I was ready to move or downsize or do whatever we needed to do and I am grateful that we did not have to, but I am most grateful to have gotten that undeniable answer to my prayer that was really an assurance of my Heavenly Father's love for me.

How I live my faith

I have been priviledged to work with both Youth and Women as a president of these organizations within the church. The greatest blessing I have recieved through this is NOT the prestige or notoriety, but in influencing people on an individual basis. Being able to touch a life for good, whether that person is a member or not, is priceless. I have been in broken homes, divorce courts, helped with restraining orders, visited those in mental hospitals, jails and the homeless. I have felt God's love for all people by serving people.
