Jamie: editor, graphic designer, business owner, Foreign Service, languages, science, Mormon.

Hi, I'm Jamie

I like science, hiking, and languages. I own an online publishing business. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I grew up in Utah, loved the mountains, loved rock climbing and hiking and camping, and met my husband while at BYU. In college I studied physics and psychology, but I finally graduated in English and editing. We lived in Italy, Belgium, New York, and Virginia for grad school, and my husband's work will take us to many new places for the rest of our lives. We currently live in the Marshall Islands. I kayak instead of hike now, because there are no mountains within 2,500 miles. We have one baby boy whose laugh is delightful. While he is napping or playing by himself I edit and design books for publication.

Why I am a Mormon

When I was reading the Book of Mormon as a freshman in college, I finished the book, knelt, and asked God if the Book of Mormon was a real record. Things fell very clearly into place. I am a logical, science-oriented person and this convinced me more than any vague self-concocted feeling could. God answered my prayer in a way that I understood. Because of the restored church and Christ's teachings I have a very happy marriage and an understanding of why life is hard—because life is still hard!

How I live my faith

Right now I teach the 12-18 year-old young women at church. It feels good to use my talents to bring joy and knowledge to others. I am also trying to teach others how to play hymns so when I go someone will know how. I do my best to love God, love my neighbor, keep the commandments, and be willing to change when I mess up.
