David C: Mormon.

Hi, I'm David C

I grew up in Idaho. I've drawn hundreds of thousands of caricatures. But that's not why I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I work as a caricature artist, an artist and a printer. I have drawn caricatures of people from all over the world at amusement parks, fairs, parties and events. Caricatures are fun for people young and old. But that's now why I'm a Mormon.
I also enjoy many other activities, like painting religious paintings, portraits, scenes and still life. I enjoy drawing people, digital painting, cartooning, singing music, playing piano, recording videos and music, writing, reading, playing computer games and listening to music sports, like swimming, tennis, table tennis, billiards and I really enjoy spending time with my wife and family.
But the reason I'm a Mormon is because I have been led by God to this path, and I know it is right. I don't need to look elsewhere to find the path to happiness and peace in this life and lasting joy in the hereafter.

Why I am a Mormon

I enjoy life, my work, my family and recreation, like everybody else--such is common to most people everywhere. But thanks to wise parents and ancestors, I was fortunate to be raised in the Mormon Church. They gave me a good example, and they took me to Church. At Church I enjoyed the teachings that I received, and I was impressed by the Holy Spirit from time to time as I participated.

As I grew older, I had the chance to study the scriptures for myself. As I read the Book of Mormon and other scriptures, it became apparent to me that what I was reading was inspired writing, and that the writing was of God. The doctrines were true, reasonable, just and merciful, and exhibited the great wisdom and love of God in preparing the plan of salvation for all men. I prayed and felt the Holy Spirit enlighten me as I pondered and studied the scriptures.

I also had the chance to enjoy the good "fruits" of the Church as I served a mission, and served in Church callings, changing lives for the better. I saw how the teachings of our leaders protect us from the pitfalls and problems of worldly ways. I also find great joy in my wife who has the same faith as I, and with whom I have been blessed to have many choice children. The Lord has protected me, prospered me, guided me and blessed me as I have tried to keep my covenants.

Later in my life, my parents and siblings left the Mormon Church. I told my mother, "Well, I'm staying with it the Church." Since the departure of my parents and siblings from the Mormon Church, I have had many chances to re-evaluate the doctrines of the Church, the Scriptures, and the strange experiences that I have had to undergo. Through every examination, I have felt more confirmed that I am on the correct path, and that the Church is true, and that the Lord will help me if I continue to stay on the strait and narrow path.

So I am happy and grateful to be in the Church. It has been a blessing to me that I would not want to be without.

Personal Stories

How has The Book of Mormon helped you understand the purpose of life?

As I studied the Book of Mormon, and the other modern scriptures, much has been added to my testimony. The doctrines expounded in these works of scripture agree with the Bible, and yet so much more has been restored: the pre-mortal life of all spirits; the positive role of a mortal life and experience; the nature of the post-mortal Spirit world; the literal resurrection; the kingdoms of glory prepared for eternity; and God's plan for redeeming all his children, including the dead who never knew the Gospel.

The Book of Mormon truly teaches men to repent, and to come unto Christ. The Book of Mormon is the proof of Joseph Smith's role as a Prophet, and points the way to joining the restored Church. The Book of Mormon contains many reasons and testimonies to assure me that it is God's will for me to be a Mormon, and to endure to the end in this Church.

How I live my faith

I live my faith by attending Church, praying daily, reading scriptures, holding family meetings once a week with a spiritual lesson, and serving in my ward. I visit with a few other families in the ward once a month and build friendship with them. I select the hymn for Priesthood meeting, and arrange for a pianist and a conductor. I help members move in or out, when needed.

My faith also includes such things as abstinence of tobacco, alcoholic drinks, coffee, tea, and drugs. I also avoid pornography and R-rated movies. I also refrain from getting tattoos, body piercings, and trampy fashions/hair styles.
I avoid indebtedness, dishonest dealings, and swearing.

I help with service projects such as dry pack canning food supplies, and going with missionaries to teach investigators about the Restored Gospel. And I attend the temple as opportunity permits.

I strive to keep the commandments of God, and to become more like the Savior. I strive to do all i can to build the kingdom of God on the earth.
