About Me

A little bit prickly but will typically defend those seen as the underdog. Tolerant of the vastly "open-minded" but I'll engage in doctrine occasionally help them understand my view of things.

Why I am a Mormon

I found that my lifestyle did not help me achieve the goals I'd set for myself. I needed a plan for life and once I had that I found it matched very closely to those of the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day saints. I had not made any plans for the afterlife since I didn't understand that way of thinking but with time the I came to understand God's plan as presented by the Church.

How I live my faith

I constantly review my actions and thoughts and compare them back to my understanding of how I can be the best version of myself. God plan is about the future, not the past, is about who you will become not what you have been and even though I find myself lacking, I hope that I lift the bar higher each time I improve so I'm reaching to become a better and better version of myself each day. It's a lofty goal but without a direction, I'd quickly become the worst version of myself and no-one wants that.

What is done with the tithing that Mormons pay?

I pay it and I trust that the Lord will put those in place to best use these funds and I'll leave it up to him to judge those who might not.

Tithing is paid in faith. I know these funds will not be misused. I pay tithing because it is a commandment, and because I love God and want to give Him back a small porion of what He has given me, to futher build up His church. These funds go to build and maintain church buildings and temples and other like expenses. Our clergy is not paid. There is no collection plate. We simply pay our tithing, our fast offerings, we share what we have gladly. This is God's way. For this is God's church.

What are Mormon Temples used for?

They are peaceful, pure places, where only those who have committed to live the most discipled lives can go to ponder and pray. They are places where we learn about God's plan for all of humanity, and where we promise to do all in our power to help all of His children, and receive promises that we can be with Him as well. We wear white clothing that is simple, and remove our watches and bling, to demonstrate a willingness to let go of our day-to-day concerns to focus on the real things: people, and their worth to God.
