Tammie: Mormon.

Hi, I'm Tammie

I'm a wife, a full-time Sonographer, and a musician, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a California girl by birth, Southern girl at heart. I have grown up in the South where I have been one of the few members of the church in my Schools or places of work. I am a wife, daughter, sister, friend, full-time sonographer, musician, dog trainer, a normal girl. I love to shop for bargains, make thrift store finds fabulous additions to my wardrobe, love to sit at my piano for hours and sing my heart out, love to go to football games (college or NFL), love to camp and be outside... I love to learn and study... hope I never stop!
I have been happily married to my husband for almost 11 years. He is also a member of the church and we spend our time together enjoying our hobbies and serving the Youth of the church, currently. Our marriage has been so blessed by the Gospel of Jesus Christ!

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in the church by my mother, although my father was not a member himself. My father was supportive of my being raised in the church and was always impressed with the family values that it taught. I gained a testimony of the Gospel in my youth. I remember reading and studying the Book of Mormon in High School and praying about its truthfulness and remember that overwhelming feeling when I prayed that assured me it was. But, it wasn't until college that I know my testimony was tested. I was one of only a few members at my entire College and was questioned and even at times persecuted for my beliefs. By the time I wrapped up my time there, I had gained an unwaivering testimony of the gift of the Savior's Atonement, of the truthfulness of the Gospel, and the happiness that comes from living its principles. My conversion happened in those early college years and my testimony continues to grow every day.
I am a Mormon because in the teachings of the church I have gained a true sense of who I am, of my purpose here on earth, of where I came from and where I am going, and my life has true direction and happiness.

Personal Stories

How has your knowledge of the Plan of Happiness changed/benefited your life?

I lost my father when I was 19 years old. It was so hard losing him at such a young age, with thoughts of... he won't be there on my wedding day, or when I welcome my children into the world... my husband and my children won't have the opportunity to know my Dad who I love so much! But, losing him would have been even more difficult were it not for my knowledge of the Plan of Happiness. I know that God loves his children, of which I am one. I know that He has provided a way for our families to be together forever. I know that I will see my Dad again and that knowledge gives me hope and healing. I cannot imagine how hard it would be to lose a loved one if I questioned the concept of life after death, or if I questioned the ability of families to be together after death. But, everyone can have this knowledge for themselves and I am thankful for the modern day revelation that helps us more fully understand the eternal nature of families and how temporary our separations are from those we love and lose in this life!

What is hope and what do you hope for?

Hope is a principle of the Gospel of Jesus Christ that is a belief that the righteous desires of our heart will be granted in time. Without faith there would be no hope. I have been married for almost 11 years, and my husband and I thought that we would begin our family more than 8 years ago. The Lord's time, however, was different from ours. We still have not been blessed with a child, and it is the single greatest hope of ours at this time in our lives and has been for some time. Experiencing Infertility has taught me a great deal about the gift of hope. I have been blessed with strengthened faith, a strengthened marriage, and strengthened Individual worth through this long and painful trial. Along the way, I have felt the comfort of the Lord and looking back I can see the wonderful blessings I have received by being asked to "Wait". As I study the scriptures, I read many stories of hope. I have learned through their pages stories of many faithful people who were asked to wait for the desires of their hearts and in time their prayers were answered and they were able to see that the Lord's way and time was better than their own. Knowing I can communicate with my Father in Heaven, gives me hope. Knowing that I am a beloved daugther of my Heavenly Father gives me hope. Living the Gospel of Jesus Christ on a daily basis gives me hope and I continue to hope and pray for the day when my husband and I can welcome children into our home... but, until then I am becoming more aware of the blessings that come from submitting your will to God's and accepting that "no's" and the "waits"... in anticipation of the "yes's".

How I live my faith

Serving in the Church is a privilege that all its members can enjoy and I have been blessed by the opportunities I have had to teach and be taught. I currently serve the Youth in the church, in particular the Young Women (ages 12-18). I teach Sunday lessons and plan Wednesday night activities for the Young Women in my area, and was recently asked to be the Young Women's Camp Director, organizing a week long Summer Camp for the Girls in our Stake (geographical area). We help plan service projects quarterly for the Youth to participate in. I love working with the youth of the church!
