Jenni.: Mormon.

Hi, I'm Jenni.

I'm a wife and a mother. I love people, cultures, food, and music. I am a daughter of God, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am a mother to an adorable, energetic, very intelligent little boy. I had him a month after graduating from college with a Bachelor's degree in Cultural Anthropology. I love learning about people's backgrounds and cultures, and I host a monthly International Food Night with friends so we can expose ourselves to new recipes, new cultures, and new people. I love experimenting in the kitchen and I'm always trying to find new healthy foods in incorporate into our diet, especially since I grew up eating a lot of junk food and not taking good care of myself. I would never consider myself an athlete, but I enjoy regular exercise because it gives me energy to deal with life's stresses. I am an avid reader and enjoy a wide range of genres, including science fiction, biography, finance, ethnography, and culinary magazines and books. I've taught myself to coupon over the last few years and it's been a tremendous help in keeping our budget in line while my husband finishes graduate school. I adore my son and we love to go to the library and park together, and play with friends.

Why I am a Mormon

I was raised in this church by my wonderful parents. In high school when I started making friends with a diverse group of people, I really searched in my own religion to find truth, and I also researched the doctrines of several other religions. I know so many wonderful people of various Christian denominations, as well as several wonderful Hindus and members of other major religions. While I deeply respect their beliefs, I have found truth in the doctrines of the Latter-day Saint faith and have therefor chosen to be a member of this church. I have felt God's love in my life and I have received many personal, powerful answers to heartfelt prayers as I have asked God if He is real, if He is my Father, and if this church is true. I believe that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God, chosen to restore the truth of Christ's gospel and to re-organize Christ's church on the earth after a period of darkness and apostasy. I believe that proper authority is essential in an organized religion, and I believe that the priesthood found in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the only proper authority on the earth. These beliefs guide my everyday actions. Because I believe in the doctrines, I find joy in being a wife and a mother. I find joy in being a daughter of God, and in serving my brothers and sisters. I am a Mormon because I believe in Jesus Christ as my Savior.

How I live my faith

I live my faith every day by doing small and simple things that bring me closer to God. These include studying my scriptures, praying, having regular family time where we learn about Christ, and serving others around me.
I live my faith by learning how to love others. I firmly believe that we are all children of a loving Father in Heaven, and that there needs to be more love, acceptance, and hope in the world. One of my favorite sayings is from President Hinckley, who was the prophet from 1995 until 2008 (when he passed away); he always said "stand a little taller, and be a little better".
