Hi, I'm K. J.
I'm a Mormon from Utah.
About Me
I’ll borrow a phrase from my favortie book J.R.R. Tolkien’s “The Hobbit” to paint a picture of myself . . . “there is little or no magic about me, I am inclined to be fat in the stomach, I wear no shoes, I have dinner twice a day when I can get it”. And much like a hobbit I’m content and happy with my life. That life includes my husband, Mr. J, five children and their spouses--AND six wonderful grandchildren. They are the best part of my simple life.
I've been a stay at home mom my entire adult life and now I am a stay at home grandma tending my grandchildren on a daily basis. I've always felt that raising children to be the most important work I could accomplish. I am very happy with my choice to devote my life to making children into happy well-adjusted adults.
Why I am a Mormon
I was born in the church, but that isn't why I stay. I believe in Christ and have faith that someday, because of the atonement of Christ, I will live eternally with my heavenly family as well as the family I've been blessed to live with in this life. I have had many key spiritual moments in my life when the spirit has testified to me of the reality and divinity of Jesus Christ my Savior. I am a Mormon because in my heart of hearts I know this is true.
How I live my faith
I live my faith by serving in callings in our church. Through these callings I have met and served many people. I have also been blessed by the service of others. One dear sister in my church somehow knew that one of my daughters was at a difficult spot in her life. Nobody asked her to come, nobody asked her to be her friend. She just showed up at our house off and on for years bringing crafts for my daughter to work on. It was a simple act of kindness that taught my daughter that she mattered to someone other than her family. I've been the beneficiary of many acts of kindness through the years from members of my faith.
I've also spent many years volunteering in the public schools, in our church youth group and in the scouting program. These experiences were very rewarding. I do enjoy working with young people very much.
Most of my time is spent serving my family. As mother and now grandmother my days are filled with meeting the needs of an ever expanding family. I also have an aging mother that I have the blessing of spending time with two or three times a week. I have found giving of myself to assist the people in my life blesses me as well. I am grateful for a full and busy life.
Of course the only way one can really live their faith is to study it in the first place so that one has a feeling for it in their heart. One's actions tend to reflect what is ones heart. Through study and prayer I hope to increase my understanding and my love for the gospel of Jesus Christ.
