Chat With a Mormon Online
I was born in Canada, and I grew up in Georgia. Georgia is what I would refer to as "home". I love playing any sport, but my favourites are soccer, tennis, and golf. If I set my mind to something, I normally don't quit until I finish it. My friends and family are the most important people in my life, and there isn't anything I would not do for them. Most of my friends would probably class me as "goofy" or "silly", but I am serious when need be. I love to laugh and make others laugh, I certainly believe it is the best medicine. Serving in the church is a new found passion of mine, and I am thankful for all the opportunities I have to help out. I am going to BYU.
I was baptized in June of 2010, and I would have never guessed i would become a member of this church a year ago. However, I am extremely pleased with my decision to join the church, I couldn't be happier! I never considered myself a bad kid, in fact i always thought I was a good kid who made good decisions. Then i met someone who absolutely astounded me by the fantastic example she set, there was something "different" about her that caused her to stand out. She made me want to be a better person, and when i found out she was Mormon i had to look into it to see what it was all about. So i went online and ordered a free Book of Mormon. When the missionaries came to my house i was a little shocked i kind of just expected to get the Book in the mail, but no i skeptically sat down with the missionaries and listened to the lessons they taught. Through praying and asking if what i read in the Book of Mormon was true, i came to find out that it was true. Having both my friend and the missionaries teach me was a true blessing, and i could not be more thankful for the work they do trying to get Heavenly Fathers message out. My testimony continues to grow each and every day, and i know of the love that Jesus Christ and our Heavenly Father have for all of us, and that love causes a happiness that is unfathomable. I hope that i can continue to work each day to increase my knowledge of the gospel and become a better person.
We are all children of our Heavenly Father, and he so badly wants us to return to him. Going on missions is a way to help our brothers and sisters know exactly what to do to return to him. We show both our love for Heavenly Father, and our Brothers and Sisters by teaching them the wonderful message of the restored gospel of Jesus Christ.
To me hope is something we look forward to and something that we wish will come to pass. I hope to become more like Christ and follow his example. I hope i can serve an honourable mission and help as many people as possible. I hope to be married in the temple and be a good husband and father. I hope that I can bring at least one person unto the Gospel so they can experience the joy and happiness that i feel as a member.
A better question would be how hasn't the Book of Mormon brought me closer to God! Moroni's promise is that if we read, ponder, and pray in faith if the Book of Mormon is true, then we will receive a direct answer from God (through the Holy Ghost). In 2010, I put this promise to the test, and the end result was my baptism. I can say for sure that without the Book of Mormon my life would be different, and I would not be in harmony with God's teachings. Through the Book of Mormon I know what God wants for me, and what I have to do to return to him. To me the Book of Mormon is something that guides me, and directs me in the path I need to follow (which is the same path Christ followed). I love the Book of Mormon, and I know that it is the word of God and that it only brings us closer to him, never leading us astray.
I try my best to do all i can to help out in church, whether it is going on team ups with the missionaries, cleaning the church, or even helping out someone in need. I love talking about the gospel with people, and i find there is no better way to gain knowledge than by teaching what you know to someone else. I pray and read scriptures everyday, and at church I do my duties as a member of the priesthood .... that is how i live my faith.
