About Me

I am married. My sweetheart and I have seven children. I enjoy reading and collecting dictionaries. I am fascinated by words and their multiple meanings. As a teenager I had a summer job working at a Velodrome which is an oval, banked bicycle track and to this day I enjoy watching professional bicycle races. I also enjoy bike riding and spending time with my family.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because the gospel answers all of my questions and strengthens my faith in Jesus Christ.

How I live my faith

I read the scriptures and pray regularly. This gives me the strength to practice living gospel principles. I serve in the Church by teaching classes, helping those in need and by visiting others. I also work with the Boy Scouts and enjoy helping the boys learn new skills.

Absolutely not! I grew up in the church and I'd say the number of people that I've helped in the church is significantly smaller than the number of people I've assisted out side the church. This is not to say I don't help my fellow church members. We believe that we are all children of our Heavenly Father. And by that reasoning we are all brothers and sisters. I take that to heart and when I see someone in need I try to help to the best of my ability and training. Organized service projects aside, I've helped several stranded motorists on the side of the road. I give food to people I've seen that appear to be hungry on the side of the road. And for a long time, when I was growing up, my dad and I would do Meals on Wheels for those in need. I've volunteered at soup kitchens more recently. And during times of widely known hurricanes, I've volunteered on clean up crews multiple times. There is a song we have in our church called "Because I Have Been Given Much." I don't want to post the entire lyrics here, but they are available on a popular search engine. That song is very poignant to me and has always been near and dear to my heart. Also being a former Boy Scout, I have tried to uphold both the Scout Law and Oath to this day. How are modesty and chastity related? How can parents teach their children to be modest in dress, language and behavior?

As a young woman I have been protected by my decision to be modest. I am not only modest because I feel my body is sacred, but I love that people treat me with respect because I am modest. My mother has been such an inspiration in my life because she has taught me this through her example. When I was a younger teenager and would sometimes test the principle of being modest, she would explain to me that however I dress is how people view me. This is when I fell in love with the word, "classy". Dressing modest always looks classy and there is nothing about dressing inmodest that looks classy. It is more attractive to see someone dressed classy and modest because than your focus goes onto the person not the outfit. I am so grateful to have learned this at a young age because of my wonderful mother. I have defintely seen its effects by the reactions when I get when meeting people because their eyes go straight to mine. I love it! Show more Show less
