Hi, I'm Karen Michelle
I am a wife, mother, teacher and baker. I am a Mormon.
About Me
After studying Marriage, Family and Human Development and graduating from college, I married and am now a mom to an adorable 6-year-old boy. While he's in school, I sell homemade bread at a local shop and work as a substitute in the school. I also participate in school activities as a volunteer and enjoy singing in a local group.
Why I am a Mormon
I was fortunate to be born in the church and raised in a home where the gospel was taught. As I grew older and started to make my own decisions, I knew that being in the church was the best way to live my life. I am a Mormon because I believe in Jesus Christ and in His sacrifice for each of us, whether we choose to accept it or not. One of the greatest blessings in my life (aside from my family) is living close to the grove where Joseph Smith prayed. Each time I visit that sacred place, I remember that God hears our prayers and answers them.
Personal Stories
What are you doing to help strengthen your family and make it successful?
Our little family is the most important thing to me. We do a lot of simple things to strengthen our family. Every morning, we read from the scriptures and pray together as a family before leaving for our daily activities. Attending church and learning from the examples of others is important to us. In everything we do, we know that our family comes first. We make decisions together, pray together, play together, and work together.
How can your talents and gifts bless others?
I feel like one of the gifts I have is music. Music, whether religious or secular, can have a great power to influence people. I love to be able to share my convictions through music, whether singing things myself or sharing music that other people have done. Any gift or talent that we have can be used to help others, whether that talent is in music, sports, or just being a good listener and a positive friend to others.
How I live my faith
We have a small unit of members in our area, so opportunities to serve and be a part are frequent. In the church, each woman is part of a service organization that was created to encourage and develop the natural compassion that women possess. As the member of this organization, I am privileged to participate with the women in our area as we help others by teaching them the gospel, bringing meals, and being a friend.
Being in a place where there are not a lot of members provides many opportunities to tell others about the church and to teach others of the joy of the gospel. I try my best to live my life in a way that people want to know more about Jesus Christ because they know me.
