Hi, I'm Jessica
I grew up in Colorado. I'm a mother, a wife, a massage therapist, a celiac (avoiding gluten) and I'm a Mormon.
About Me
I am the wife of a college student and the mother to a beautiful little girl. I graduated from massage school, but right now we are blessed so that I am able to stay home as a full time mommy. It is a lot of work; but I love it. We have some food allergies and so I enjoy baking wheat/ gluten free. I also enjoy crafting and spending time outdoors.
Why I am a Mormon
I am a Mormon because I know I wouldn't like who I was if I weren't. Living the standards that Mormonism teaches, like keeping the sabbath day holy and abstaining from alcohol and tobacco use for example, helps me live a happy, peaceful life. Because of the teachings of the gospel, and the feelings I experience within about those teachings, I know that I am a daughter of God. I know that He loves me and that He will never leave me to feel alone. I want to live my life so that I can return to live with him again someday.
Personal Stories
How has your knowledge of the Plan of Happiness changed/benefited your life?
My mom passed away recently, but I know that she no more considers herself dead than you or I consider ourselves dead. While her physical body has been laid to rest, her spirit is very much alive in the spirit world- a place where she continues to learn and progress; surrounded by loved ones. The best part is that I know I will see her again one day!
What are you doing to help strengthen your family and make it successful?
Even though today's society seems to expect individuals to put their success and careers ahead of all else, I strive to make my role as a wife and mother my top priority. I believe that supporting and encouraging my husband as he works hard to provide for us creates a peaceful environment at home. Even though our daughter is still very young, I can teach her that she has a Heavenly Father who loves her just as her earthly parents love her. I think that teaching her about prayer, and about keeping the commandments, is just as important as learning anything else. I love that I get to stay home with her having decided to make motherhood my full time job.
Why/How do you share the gospel with your friends?
Sometimes it is stressful to share the gospel with my friends! I worry that I may offend someone... But, the truth is the gospel makes me so happy. It is complete goodness and a source of so much comfort that I want to share what I know with others.
How I live my faith
Before we moved, I had a calling in the primary and so I spent my Sundays with the children who attended church. There are few things I enjoy more than hearing them sing. They are so loud and confident when they sing of the Savior's love and it reminds me how grateful I am for His love too.
