Hi, I'm Janell
I can be found studying in another field. Life begins again for me after teaching- no retirement. I am a Mormon.
About Me
I am 60 and education is very important to me. I currently am going to school and studying pharmacy. This is even after getting a masters in education. Why? Because "the glory of God is intelligence" and we can take our knowledge to the next life. I also am writing a novel and have written other published works to edify and bring faith to others. Strength is in doing and sharing
Why I am a Mormon
The Plan of Salvation is important in my life. I know a complete plan with clarity of gospel principles is what brings me the greatest joy. That is what I have found in this church. My life in Georgia is somewhat different that what I lived growing up in Utah- people judge me by the life I live with even more watchful eyes. I try very hard to be diligent in Christ's gospel and that brings me incredible joy. I love Jesus Christ.
Personal Stories
How has your knowledge of the Plan of Happiness changed/benefited your life?
I know that many times God has directed my path. There are discouraging moments, but knowing that there is more to life than material wealth and positions helps me focus on developing good qualities that bring me joy. I get a sense of accomplishment out of developing talents in this mortal life; talents will go with me in the next life.
Please explain the part prayer plays in your life?
Prayer is very sacred to me. I know God hears me and understands my needs. Last year was very trying. I had 5,000 prayers going in groups to rescue my situation that was destroying me financially. God did not answer me at all last year; I believe He was still sustaining me, however. When 2011 rolled around, then my heart was lifted up in appreciation that now was the time for me to be joyful. Immediately, a story unfolded to me that I am writing down. Every time I work on this story, my heart is joyous. I also look for daily opportunities to lift others and that has brought me joy. One may never know what trials others have to bear (I could not talk about my trial because there was no support group) so God was telling me to be careful about others and remember they could be having a bad year like I did. So, now I always try to lift others and not judge them. Maybe I will never have an answer to my prayer and my financial situation will be very hard, but God brought me through a crisis and showed me how to be joyful in spite of deep trials.
How I live my faith
I have learned to do a good deed every day and help both husband and other family members. My faith teaches me to be Christlike and I also look for opportunities to help others that may need my help or kind word, or smile. Sometimes that is the only way that our community will listen - because actions speak louder than words.
I attend the Cornelia Ward. I take pictures for the ward bulletin. I have a lot of creative talent and it is fun to share with others!
