Chat With a Mormon Online
I was born in a small town in ohio and have lived all over the country, but now my family is in portland. Im a sneaker enthusiast and a denim junkie. I love to be active and stay fit. Music is a part of everything I am, and playing guitar is my favorite thing to do. Ive been a batman fan since I was 2, and my favorite thing to drink is orange soda. My family is incredible, and I couldnt ask for better friends. Right now I'm serving a mission in raleigh, north carolina. I do work.
Despite the fact that my parents raised me in the church, I knew from a young age that there would come a time that I had to come to know for myself, personally, if it was the truth. I knew I couldnt hang onto the words and suggestions of those around me all my life. I knew that I had to seek an answer myself. Living the principles of Christ's gospel bring clarity to my life. There is a peace that I've found in striving to be a disciple of the Lord that I cannot find anywhere else. I'm a Mormon because the Gospel of Christ gives me hope and a sure direction. Having the knowledge that my family can be together forever brings me comfort beyond unerstanding.
Serving a mission is a personal choice, not an obligation. We go on missions, and I am currently serving one, because I want the rest of the world to feel the happiness and peace that I feel from knowing that I have a loving Heavenly Father. Living the principles of Christ's restored gospel brings stability into the craziness of life. We go on missions because it is our duty to share the "good news" or the gospel, with everyone- so that they can know that they have a Heavenly Father who knows and loves them, and that through His son's sacrifice, we can be forgiven for the mistakes we make and feel clean and whole.
Throughout the scirptures, Christ repeatedly counsels us to, "fear not" and to "believe only." Ive come to understand more and more that as we do things to strengthen our faith in the Savior, our fears and doubts in life dissipate. Having a sure faith that Jesus is the Christ and that He lives and loves me brings such a peace to my life. Ive learned that as I daily make even small efforts to strengthen my faith in Him, my hope for the future grows. This is not to say that the challenges in my life are any less daunting- the Lord never promised us that this life would be easy, or that He would take our trials away, but He has promised us that as we seek Him, He will give us the strength, "that we may be able to bear our trials."
I live my faith by doing my best to be a good example! The Savior said, "Come, follow me," and every day I do my best to do just that.
