Chat With a Mormon Online
I have been married for over 30 years to the same man and we have 1 son, 2 daughters, 6 wonderful grandchildren and an assortment of dogs, cats, chickens and cows. I love all of the seasons of the year and all of the fun holidays that come with each season. We have a small farm and it has been a great way to raise a family and teach them all about work and the law of the harvest (we reap what we sow). Some of the things that I enjoy doing are: working (the hard physical kind), keeping current on politics, studying the Bible and the Book of Mormon, planning family parties, working in my vegetable garden, preparing lesson for my Sunday School class and blogging. And oh yes, I just love garage sales! I can truly say that I never ever lack for things to do.
I am a Mormon because I know, without a doubt, that it is the only true church on the earth today. The gospel was restored by the Prophet Joseph Smith and we are led today by a true prophet of God. People have asked me how I can be so sure. I tell them it is kind of like trying to describe to someone how salt tastes. If you have tasted salt you know that it is real and has a distinct flavor, but in trying to describe it to someone else it becomes a difficult task. It is like feeling the spirit of the Holy Ghost, once you have felt its witnessing power you do all that you can to keep His spirit with you and feel His spirit in your life. Kind of like salt, once you've tasted the savor you don't want to go back to the bland.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints is a church of service, but in serving others we also have the chance to develop our talents and make many new friends. Currently I teach the 10 year old children in our congregation on Sunday. We have so much fun together studying the life of our Savior from the New Testament, since I am a retired teacher, this is a great calling for me. I have also gone to girl's camp in the summer time with the teenage girls and have been involved with the church's sports program. I have taught the women of our congregation on Sundays and have helped plan and carry out a variety of service activities for the women in our community. One of the great programs of the church is how we visit and look out for one another, even people who are not members of our faith. I find that when I serve others and try to bless their lives, that I am actually the one who ends up being blessed.
