About Me

I love spending time with my family and friends, and being with them as often as possible. I also love building, fixing, experimenting, playing, and working on computers, and it makes me happy when I get to help someone else with their computer, whether it be a simple question or a virus or whatever. I went to college for about a year, studying Information Systems before deciding to put that on hold to serve a mission for two years. I love helping others, and trying to make their day, even if only a little brighter, by doing simple things like bringing them one of their favorite treats or even just telling them that I sincerely love them. I love my Savior, Jesus Christ, and I know that he lives and guides me, as I know he does all of us.

Why I am a Mormon

Nothing means more to me than the love I have for my family and friends. From the time I was a small boy I always admired the love and kindness that my mom and dad entreated to each other and to me, and my other siblings. As I grew up my parents taught me that I have a Heavenly Father who has an even greater love for me and all of us, his children, and that I could show my love back to him by serving those around me. As I have followed that counsel and served those around me, just as Jesus Christ did, I have grown to love my family and friends with a love that I never thought was possible, and I have built bonds that cannot be broken by death. Knowing that I can still be with my family and those I care about after death and forevermore provides a peace in my life that nothing else ever could. I am so thankful that I have the opportunity to share forever with those that I love, and because I am a Mormon, I know exactly what I need to do to make that possible.

How can your talents and gifts bless others?

One gift that I feel that I have been given is the ability to work on and understand computers. I most certainly know of the headaches and stresses than can be caused when your computer doesn't seem to be working right. Computers have so much potential for good, and thanks to the talent I have been given of being able to fix them, I have been able to help others do things such as genealogy work, papers for school, blogs, and other computer services, and I have also been able to help fix problems with things such as viruses, printer errors, hardware and software errors, and many other problems. I am very thankful for that gift because I love helping people, and I'm very thankful for the gifts that so many others have that enable them to help me with the things that I struggle with, like sewing - thanks Mom. The gifts and talents that each of us are given help me know that we do have a Heavenly Father who loves us, and that he has a purpose for each of us. The fun part is showing that we're thankful for those gifts by using them to help others, and our Heavenly Father lets us know that he's happy when we do that because we feel good inside too.

How I live my faith

I am currently serving a full-time mission in the Wisconsin Milwaukee mission. I love striving to help strengthen the youth by building them up and letting them know how proud I am of them for the high standards that many of them have. I love complimenting them and others to help them know that I sincerely care about them, and to help them know how lucky I feel to be around them and to be their friends. I love the basic principles of the church that help me better serve those around me. I love helping everyone I can, no matter how small the task. Just as Jesus Christ always did.

Can husband and wife be together forever? Do you believe that families will live together in heaven?

Absolutely. Thanks to special places of worship, known as temples, husband and wife can be married together and sealed to each other for time and all eternity. This means that if they live true to each other, and to the commandments of Jesus Christ, they can live in happiness together and with their children even after this life and forevermore. This promise means so much to me personally because my biggest goal in life is to live worthy to marry the girl of my dreams in the temple, and for us to be there for each other forever, and to raise a loving family together. Looking forward to the day when that dream of mine comes true helps me have the strength to live worthy now so that I can be sure that I will be a worthy husband for my future wife and so that together we will be able to build our relationship on trust, and help build each other and our children up through love for each other and love for our Savior, Jesus Christ.

The Lord would not command us to love each other so much during our lives only to tear us apart in the next life. We are one flesh just as the Lord is one with his church. The scriptures say that we are not to be put asunder.
Christ gave his apostles special revelations on this subject:
Matthew, Chapter 16:
Jesus said to his apostles:
19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

What else would his apostles bind, and what else could the Savior mean, if not marriages? Christ put no limit on their binding power to bind relationships and covenants. Their power extends into heaven.
And he continued by saying:
20 Then charged he his disciples that they should tell no man that he was Jesus the Christ.
– because some things are kept sacred until later times when the world is ready to receive them.
Temple sealing and eternal marriage are primarily the subject of modern revelation through prophets in our time.

In the latter days, according to prophecy, Elijah has returned to join families together. Malachi 4:5-6. We believe that prophets in each age bring new revelation from God. Amos 3:7.
This latter day revelation has finally made clear how families are kept together in heaven—something people have wondered about throughout the ages. (Ephesians 5:32, wherein it says that the subject of marriage in Biblical times was “a great mystery”). In our time, the purpose of marriage and family is clear: ordinances are being performed to unite the whole human family throughout all dispensations of time. It is a unique work for the latter days. These modern revelations free human kind from the depressing, and divorce-promoting idea that the family becomes meaningless in the life hereafter. The Lord would not put us in a world so alien to our heavenly home. In heaven, families are the eternal organizational unit in his kingdom.

I used to play in a Balinese Gamelan ensemble here in Washington, DC on weeknights and had some of my friends ask me this question. First, I pointed out that anyone can go into the temple during the open house to see what it is like. After it is dedicated, it becomes holy ground and you have to make yourself clean or holy to go in. I told them that EVERYONE can go to the temple, as long as they are wiling to go through that process of becoming clean. I reminded them that you can't just waltz in to the White House either (much to the chagrin of many tourists here). You have to go through a background check that takes 6 weeks and that is just to get into the East Wing, the West Wing requires a job and security clearance. Our protectiveness of the temple is not a sign of secrecy, it is more a manifestation of how special and important the the building and its rituals are.

And I hope people don't get intimidated by the word "ritual", everyone who has gone through a school graduation has experienced a ritual. It just means that we are participating in life-changing experiences that turn our hearts to God, our families and our fellow men. The real difference is that we believe that process of making devotional promises to God in a sacred place is necessary for our salvation. That is why we encourage everyone to join with us and make their way to the temple.
