I am the wife of my wonderful husband, the mother of my darling son, a culinary arts graduate, a dedicated blogger, an aspiring designer and a lover of books and art that inspire me.

Why I am a Mormon

I'm a Mormon because I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, that He suffered and died for me and that I can live again. The Mormon church is centered around these principles and I feel my faith strengthened when I'm focused on living my life in accordance with our values and beliefs.

Personal Stories

How does making right choices help us make more right choices?

My husband and I have made a choice to be dedicated to praying together every day. We take turns offering up a prayer to our Heavenly Father and as we do so I feel my love for my husband increase. When he prays I better understand his feelings, thoughts and gratitude as he converses with God.

Praying together as a family each day has brought more harmony and unison in our home. It makes me more patient and more forgiving when we do so.

How I live my faith

My involvement in my church primarily revolves around teaching the young children (ages 18 months - 11 years) of our congregation the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Are Mormons Christians?

I have asked myself the same question as others have posed it to me. When I thought about the answer I realized that every principle, every belief, every piece of scripture that the Mormon church is based upon is rooted on our faith in Jesus Christ and following God's plan for us. Our beliefs are very simple and when I pray to know if these things are true, I feel that they are.

This question always surprises me when I am asked. I always answer with a resounding "YES". We are Christians in every sense of the word. We believe in Christ. He is the head of our church. All of our teachings are based on Him. We have hope in His eternal atonement.

Why do some call Mormonism a cult?

Because we believe in continuing revelation through Prophets as in the days of old, i.e. Moses, Abraham, this is uncomfortable for some people because media has made our Prophets seem like evil men leading people astray, when they are just trying to teach us correct principles so that one day we all may return to live with our Father in Heaven.

Another reason is because we believe in the sacred nature of temples, meaning only worthy members may enter the Temple so people think that evil rituals are performed. However, in reality the nature of the temple is uplifting and beautiful and gives us clarity to what the purpose of life is, the plan of salvation, and other topics such as life, death, and the atonement of Christ. The temple is not "secret, but it is sacred. However, we encourage all to live so that they may one day enter the temple.
