Jill: blogging, music, mother, knitting, Mormon.

Hi, I'm Jill

I'm a blogger, singer, artist. I'm a mother of two and a wife of one. I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I'm a stay-at-home mom that "works" while my kids are napping or in bed. I have two blogs and blogging sometimes feels like a full-time job, but my family always comes first.

Once upon a time I thought I would be a professional singer. Living and working in New York City. Seeing my name in lights. I learned all too soon that environment was not conducive to being a wife and mother. I wouldn't trade my life for a lead on Broadway.

I love to knit, crochet, anything that works with yarn. I never considered myself an artist, but this a way for me to feel artistic.

Why I am a Mormon

I became a Mormon because that's what my parents were. But the reasons I stayed one were entirely my own.

I had read the Book of Mormon and the Bible. I attended Sunday and weekday church meetings. I did everything my parents wanted me to do. But there came a time when I had to know for myself if what I had been living was true.

So I prayed.

This was my answer: You already know.

And you know what? I did know. I had known all along. I didn't need some miraculous visit from an angel to prove it. I had had answers all along the way. They came as little spiritual "nudges".

I still get spiritual "nudges". They serve as reminders that God loves me. That Jesus knows me. Everything He went through during his ministry, death and resurrection was for me. He is real and His love is all I will ever need.

How I live my faith

Every Sunday, I get to work with our children's classes. My favorite is hearing them sing out about Jesus and his life. About being a good friend and example. About prayer and faith. Things that I need to work on!

I always leave my Sunday meetings feeling like I can tackle the world if I can just have the same faith as those children.

I also visit other women in my congregation at least once a month to see how their doing and share an inspirational message. It gives me the "grown-up" time I need and we're able to learn from each other.
