Hi, I'm Christy

I'm born and raised in Hong Kong. I'm a convert, a returned missionary, a college student, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Even though I grew up in a big city, I love the nature, I love outdoor activities, and I love traveling. I love taking pictures of the the sunsets and sunrises, and I can get up really early to see sunrise. I have attended Buddist temples, Christian churches, and Catholic schools, but I joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 2007 in Hong Kong and went on a full-time mission in 2010 at Utah.

Why I am a Mormon

I was like most of the people, seeking for the truth all my life. I remember asking millions of questions as I grew up, I have that thirst of knowledge that I was never satisfied with the answers my teachers and my family gave me. As I become a teenager, my desire of knowing grew even stronger, I guess like most of my friends, I don't believe apes are our ancestors, we really don't look alike! So I was seeking the truth in religious groups. And that was the time I met the young missionaries, I don't think I fully understand what they were trying to tell me but I had a warm and strong feeling that they are very special and their message is important to me. Everything makes perfect sense to me and I prayed and asked God, and it's all true.

How I live my faith

I have a strong testimony of my Savior, Jesus Christ and His church. And I know there is a Father in Heaven who loves me. That's all I need to know to do anything He asks me to accomplish.

What are Mormon Temples used for?

Temple is a master school of learning of our purpose of life. We need to prepare ourselves to go there just like we need to prepare to go to college or grad school. It is also a place where children of God can make covenants so that we can go back to the presence of our Heavenly Father and live with Him forever. This is not something new, we can go back to the times of old testament. Moses was commanded by the Lord that the people should make a covenant with God (Exodus24). Even though we don't have to make burnt sacrifices anymore, we are commanded to offer a broken heart and a contrite spirit (3Nephi9:20).

Temples are used to perform sacred ordinances necessary for salvation. One of these is a temple marriage--making it possible to be together as a family for eternity. Since these ordinances are sacred, only members who are striving to live the gospel may enter. All members are strongly encouraged to become and/or stay worthy to enter the temple. Members also go to the temple to seek guidance, comfort, and personal revelation from God.

Do you really believe there is a prophet like Moses alive today?

Definitely! In fact, it is hard for me to imagine the world without them. We live in difficult times with wars, economic uncertainty, and just issues and questions that are unique to our generation. Prophets are able to speak with God and relay critical guidance to us that help us to always know what God would have us do.

I believe God loved His children enough in the 'old' days to send His prophets to guide and teach them. He is unchanging, and loves us equally and continues to always have His prophets give us instructions that pertain to our generation.
