I am an Odd-Ball of a 20 year old, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

I am 20 yrs old. I graduated HS in 2009. During my senior year I took the Nursing Assistant Exam and am now a Certified Nurses Assistant. I achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, in the Boy Scouts of America just barely before I turned 18. I love animals and worked at the Fresno Chaffee Zoo with the Winged Wonders Bird Show for about a year and a half. I like hiking, camping in the snow, in the desert, at the beach, in the forest, hunting, rock climbing, swimming, sailing, fishing, and a lot of other stuff. When I get older I want to be either a Surgeon or a Veterinarian. I haven't decided yet. I very much enjoy Herping; Looking for reptiles and amphibians. Especially in the mountains out in California and well, everywhere else really.

Why I am a Mormon

I am a Mormon because I know this church is true. I was raised in this church, but that doesn't mean I didn't have to find out for myself that it was true. I am a Mormon because I love God our Heavenly Father and His son Jesus Christ. Everything they teach in the church is from God, and it's for our benefit. That is why I strive to follow His teachings. This church has blessed me and my family so much. And I love this church and its members.

Personal Stories

Why do Mormons go on missions?

I believe that Mormons go on missions because they love the church. This church has a unique feeling to it unlike anything else I've ever experienced. When you walk into a chapel and all the members are greeting you with pleasant smiles and warm gestures it makes you feel wonderful. When members of this church go on missions they want to share this church, and its blessings with others. The teachings in this church are wonderful. They meet the needs of everyone on this planet, and Missionaries go out to find the needs of people willing to listen; So that, in due time, those people can recieve the blessings which satisfy the specific needs of that person. That is why I am going to serve a mission. To bring that to people that need it.

How I live my faith

I haven't really ever been given an assignment or calling in the church. I help others with their callings though and have enjoyed doing that. The main thing I would help out with is the Linger Longer and Break The Fast Committee, they dealt with preparing food for after church services on the first and third sundays of the month. I would also go to our wards Family Home Evening every monday or tuesday evening. Family Home Evening is when people from the ward would get together and have a short lesson, then play games and have a small snack. It was really fun.

How can we stop the spread and influence of pornography?

I believe that Mothers have the power to combat the evils of our day, one child, one bedtime story, and one encouraging conversation at a time. When we teach our children about their worth as children of God, they will find confidence in themselves, and they will be armed with the power to make correct choices and the wisdom to recognize that following Jesus Christ is the path to true happiness.

I frequently hear people say that we need to protect children from pornography. That statement is true, but it forgets that adults are also damaged by the self-gratifying attitudes that pornography depicts. Pornography changes how we view each other. We should be politely vocal about our desire to avoid pornography. Pornography should not be forced upon us by our friends, government, employment, or entertainers. But it will be if we don't speak up about our values.

What is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' attitude regarding homosexuality and same sex marriage?

We read in Genesis that one of God's first commandments to Adam and Eve was to "multiply and replenish the Earth." We believe that marriage between a man and a woman is ordained of God, and the only appropriate means of multiplying and replenishing the Earth. Keeping this in mind, any sexual act that takes place that is not between a man and a woman, joined together in marriage, is forbidden.
