I'm a gamer, I'm a missionary, and I'm a Mormon.

About Me

Let's see... I'm a member of an awesome family, the second out of six kids. My parents and siblings are all really great, and I'm really glad to have grown up and lived with them. I love video games, playing them and programming them. Programming's been something I've been interested in for a really long time, so I'm hoping to do that one day. I'm still kind of a kid at heart, and I still love chocolate and pizza. I've done a bit of college, but right now I'm serving a full-time mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I'm really loving being out here, and at the time I'm writing this I've been doing it for more than 18 months. It's one of the greatest things I've ever done!

Why I am a Mormon

Like a lot of members of the church, I was born into it and my parents were raised in the church as well. However, just like everyone else, just going wasn't enough. After a while life started to get challenging, and I needed to know, not just think, that this church is true. I did something that I had been counseled to do lots of times but never really did - pray. When I say I never really did it, I mean that I would pray all the time, but it would often be the same things or even the same prayer over and over. This time I needed to pray with real intent - so honestly trying to talk to our Heavenly Father and being willing to act on any answer I would recieve. I am very happy to say that I did recieve my answer and that, thanks to prayer, I know that The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints is Christ's true church, established for anyone who desires to come to Him.
There's a difference, though, between why you come and why you stay, and I stay a Mormon because it makes me and others happy! It's brought a lot of joy into my life and has helped me through some very difficult times. Being a member of this church, living the commandments and serving others really does bring happiness to your life, so much more than the things that the world offers. It is truly great!

How I live my faith

Right now I live my faith by serving a full time mission in the Washington DC South area. As of right now, my purpose is to invite others to come unto Christ by helping them recieve the restored gospel, through faith in Jesus Christ and His Atonement, repentance, baptism, recieving the Gift of the Holy Ghost, and enduring to the end. You've probably seen missionaries before - white shirt and tie, black nametag, probably riding a bike down the street. As missionaries we teach about how Christ has restored His gospel through a prophet, how God's plan of salvation has been revealed, the gospel of Christ, and the commandments that He has given us. Something I love about this mission is how much I'm growing and changing as a result, how much I'm learning about the gospel and loving others. I think I've heard it a dozen times that you learn the most when you teach but I didn't believe it 'till I came out here!

How can we come to know our Father in Heaven?

The best way I've seen that anyone can come to know their Heavenly Father is prayer. I think that's the best way because that's how we talk with Him. Even though He already knows us, He wants us to speak with Him, to share our thoughts and our feelings, and to ask for blessings. In the Bible it says, "Ask and ye shall receive" John 1624. If we want to come to know our Father in Heaven, we must seek Him out in prayer and speak to Him. Prayer has absolutely blessed me in my life, and speaking with God and Him speaking back has been one of the greatest blessings I've been given in this life.

The same way that you come to know anyone better, talk with him. Our Heavenly father blessed us with prayer, which is the means by which we converse with him. Think of every prayer as a phone call, not writing a letter; expect God to answer your prayers and listen for his response. Prayer is a two way conversation and the best way to come to know our Father in Heaven and what he wants for us.

What is The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints' attitude regarding homosexuality and same sex marriage?

We believe that all sexual activity should be reserved for marriage and that marriage should be between a man and a woman.

We do not deny anyone the right to choose. Hate has no place in our church.
