Hi, I'm Brock
Yes, I am indeed one of those. Mormons, of course
About Me
My name is Brock and I live in Sacramento, CA. Want to know about me? Well, read below, that's me in a nutshell.
Why I am a Mormon
Why am I a mormon? That is a good question. I suppose the only answer I can come up with off the top of my head is that although I was born and raised in an LDS family, I was not always active in the church and veered away from it for a period of 3 or 4 years... so in short, I could say that the reason I am a latter-day saint is because I know what its like to have and not have the influence of Christ in my life. My road back has been a little bumpy, but the bumps make the smooth parts of the road that much more valuable.
Personal Stories
Please share your feelings/testimony of Joseph Smith.
This is the only church in the world where you will see an ordinary man lay his hands upon the head of the sick, the dying, the deaf or with any other ailment and command in the name of Jesus Christ that he be healed and it be done according to the words given in the blessing. This church is founded upon principles and powers that all other forms of Christianity only read about in the New Testament. Two things in the LDS church are solid foundations for testimony to it's truth, seek the truth and establish the truth behind these two things and all other things must fall into place - the coming forth of the book of mormon, and the reality of the priesthood existing in and only in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day saints. I know the truth of both of these things. I know that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God and that he translated the book of mormon from the ancient writings. The book of mormon gives evidence to the truth in the scripture found in Hebrews, chapter 13, verse 8 which states that God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. I declare, God Himself as my witness, who could wipe away my existence with a mere thought, that the Book of Mormon is also the word of God, and that the priesthood of God, the power to heal the sick, and cure all manners of illness, exists in and only in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. I have heard the voice of the Lord. He speaks to man as He did during the times of the biblical accounts. I know He lives. And I testify of these truths in His name, amen.
How I live my faith
How do I live my faith...
Well I am not perfect. Far from it. I am impatient, stubborn, and slow to learn and change, but I keep trying. I think God sees our efforts and they mean something to Him because our effort (which is physical action to do something) is what truly shows where our heart is. I call upon Him daily for strength, and He is there. I talk to Him in my prayers as I would talk to a friend, and I can feel that He is listening, answering, and watching closely and with concern. I obviously live my faith in imperfection, but I think that's ok because every opportunity God sees, He provides me with understanding and influence through the influence of the Spirit. Two favorite scriptures of mine are found in the Book of Mormon, both go hand in hand, I believe. The first is in the book of Mosiah, chapter 5, verse 15... it says: "Therefore, I would that ye should be steadfast and immovable, always abounding in good works, that Christ, the Lord God Omnipotent, may seal you His, that you may be brought to heaven, that ye may have everlasting salvation and eternal life, through the wisdom, and power, and justice, and mercy of Him who created all things, in heaven and in earth, who is God above all. Amen." And the second one is found in the 2 book of Nephi, chapter 32, verse 9. It say: "But behold, I say unto you that ye must apray always, and not faint; that ye must not perform any thing unto the Lord save in the first place ye shall bpray unto the Father in the cname of Christ, that he will dconsecrate thy performance unto thee, that thy performance may be for the ewelfare of thy soul." I try to live each day building a relationship with the Lord through the small and simple things He asks me to do that can make me a better person or help lift the people who surround me or that I come in contact with. I try not to disappoint Him, but I know that sometimes I do. Either way, He is always there. As I study scriptures, I see things that grab my attention for some reason (the things I need to ponder for myself) and I try to focus on how I can apply that to myself. And as I interact with others and something somebody says, or a peculiar fascination with a stranger, I find those who are in need. This is nothing special that I myself do, it is just apply those two scriptures to my life, asking the Lord to consecrate my performance (my daily walk) so I can give something back to Him in some small way. I know He is there. I know He lives. I know He loves us all the same.
