Hi, I'm Scott
I am a vertically-challenged "recovering attorney" who found his home in North Texas. I'm a Mormon.
About Me
I am a husband to a beautiful redhead and the father of four amazing children: my oldest son is serving a full-time mission in Brazil, another son is beginning classes at Brigham Young University, my daughter just started high school here in Texas, and my youngest is serving a mission on the other side of the veil after passing away from a brain tumor over three years ago. Needless to say, I am a strong advocate for curing childhood cancers, and I believe that allowing yourself to grieve in a healthy way is vitally important when a family loses a loved one. Although I once practiced law for a boutique firm in Maryland, I am now a salesman who never found the time (or the inclination) to take up the game of golf. I enjoy reading, especially when I travel for work, and some of my favorite books have been "Watership Down", "The Education of Little Tree", and "A Tale of Two Cities". I also love to travel; having served a mission in the Netherlands, Europe is one of my favorite destinations, and my wife and I have been fortunate enough to go together on a number of occasions. Regardless of what I'm doing, doing it with my family makes it twice as fun.
Why I am a Mormon
Missionaries taught my family when I was young, but I wanted a stronger testimony of the restored gospel before I committed to being a missionary myself. I tested the promise contained in the Book of Mormon that if I read it with a sincere heart and asked God the Father in the name of Christ if it was true, He would testify to me through the power of the Holy Ghost that it was true. My prayers were answered in a way that I can't deny, and I know that the Book of Mormon is true. That knowledge confirms to me that Joseph Smith was indeed God's chosen prophet to restore his kingdom to the earth in these final days before Christ's return. I know that the priesthood power has been restored to the earth and that we have a living prophet of God leading the chruch today. Above all, I know that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, the Redeemer and Savior of all mankind, the great Creator of the world and the Judge of the living and the dead. I have felt his atoning power in my life, and I know that he can forgive my transgressions and heal my wounds. I also know that he has the power to change my heart. That is why I'm a Mormon.
How I live my faith
I'm learning to remember my Savior every day and recognize my utter dependence on him. I seek to serve others, be patient and caring, and keep the commandments. Reading the scriptures and praying each day keep me focused on my faith, and I strive to see Christ in the face of every person I meet.
